- November marks three years since Jamo K & myself kicked off Loop in the basement of La Cheetah. Since then we've thrown parties in various venues around Glasgow, showcased some of the best DJs this city has to offer, supported new talent looking for an opportunity and grown to a trio with the addition of Dave Barr to our ranks. We maintain the same attitude and ethos we had to begin with. We believe that Glasgow has enough local DJ talent to support a thriving scene without the constant need to bring in average international DJs. Besides, there's a whole host of other nights that do that already. Other nights make bold claims about themselves and their DJ's. That stuff has never sat well with us. Other nights use gimmicks or cheap tricks to cover up the fact their night is utterly identical to everything else and their 'Scottish Exclusive' international guest DJ is fucking boring. Whatever, if its working for you, fair play. It's just sad we're in a situation where clubs & promoters dont feel they can compete without a guest flown in from Berlin, London or Detroit. We chose not to be a part of that. There's too many nights in Glasgow all fighting over the same punters and bankrupting themselves to pay astronomical DJ fees that they have no hope of making back on the door. We love music and we love to put it together as a DJ. We wanted to share that love and find other like-minded people who feel the same. So we keep it small scale. We do pre-club and intimate venues to try and fit in around the big guests elsewhere. Thats what we're about. We want to create an atmosphere where people can come along and get away from the celebrity DJ bollocks and just enjoy some guys playing music they love for no other reason than the pleasure of sharing it. For the last three years we've been striving to do just that. We've got it wrong sometimes but sometimes we've got it really right. We'll keep trying. In the meantime we want to celebrate three years of giving it a go and we'll be doing just that come November. Joining us for this celebration of the best Glasgow has to offer will be Colin (BCR Boys) Bain, Smartie (Monox) and Sewelly (Relentless). As always residents Jamo K, Dave Barr & Neill Murphy will be on hand in support.
