Futra presents XI

  • Futra presents… Toronto native/Berlin-based artist XI - aka Christian Andersen (New Kanada, Orca) recently featured in Mix Mag and on the Mary Anne Hobbs show (BBC 1) is confirmed for FUTRA at Los Angeles hot spot on October 18th. Opening for XI is original LA Smog member and Futra resident DLX and a live vocal and dance act by Julz the Huntress and Electric Vaudeville. XI’s creative flair and taste for new sounds led him to his own unique style – dropping the BPM to a tempo usually applied to house and techno and mixing in complex sampling techniques all while keeping the swing and swagger of the finest UK garage. Andersen’s performance will venture into new sonic territory, offering tense and moody slices of bass, dubstep, and garage. His style, international recognition and recent releases have placed him at the forefront of the next wave bass movement. Here’s a taste of what to expect at Futra on October 18th – XI Percussion Lab Mix. This past year XI has been releasing his house-infused, deep, heavy bass hits on labels such as New Kanada, Orca, and Futra. “Immunity/Squeeze” (Orca) and “Joy/Fear EP” (New Kanada) continue in his genre-bending way and his rendition of the original “Lone Lifter” is funky, deep, and slowed down with garage swinging beats. XI was the remix artist on Futra's first release Futra 001. Supporting acts include local LA musical artists Knyphy (Futra) and Don Froth (WNCL, Phonica, Froth’n). DAZZ MOOV (Futra) is providing visuals and a custom art installation by Wil Sarmienti will be exhibited for all to see - inspired by Futra’s mission: Fusing genres, art, and design. ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////// LOS GLOBOS 3040 W.
