Mother Earth Sound System + Crowdpleaser + WhompTruck present: DIA DE LOS MUERTOS - 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY Saturday, November 3 MESS/CrowdPleaser Room: ====================== ROBERT HOOD (Detroit) M-Plant . TresorAxis . Hardwax . Cheap . Peacefrog . Music Man Co-founder of Underground Resistance with Mad Mike & Jeff Mills. Producer of 10 full-length albums and over 100 singles & remixes. True Detroit techno innovator. Robert Hood needs little introduction...but here's one for the uninitiated. His influential releases throughout the '90s helped change the face of modern Detroit techno and sparked a creative renaissance. Infusing elements of acid and industrial into a potent blend of Chicago house and Detroit techno, UR's aesthetic project and militant business philosophy were singular commitments in underground techno. Hood left Detroit (and UR) with Jeff Mills in 1992, setting up shop in New York and recording a series of 12" EPs. Hood subsequently created his own record label M-Plant and contributed to the success of the original Techno sound in Europe through his releases on Berlin-based imprint Tresor. He remains fiercely critical of artistic and economic movements destructive to inner-city communities and has combined his musical enterprises with outreach and social activist ends. "There isn't many that can be compared to him as a true visionary. As the creator of the style minimal techno, Robert has always maintained what we've always needed in electronic music is a simplified and intelligent view of future music." - Jeff Mills "I think many artists try to recapture that Detroit magic, but the best thing you can do for Detroit techno is to keep expanding and keep reaching. At that time, they were reaching as far as their imaginations could go, so to pay homage to that is to keep pushing your imagination to the extreme." - Robert Hood His new album, Motor: Nighttime World 3, was just released to critical rave reviews, and can be streamed here: http://soundcloud.com/musicmanrecords/sets/robert-hood-motor-nighttime Resident Advisor podcast & feature article: http://www.residentadvisor.net/podcast-episode.aspx?id=330 http://www.residentadvisor.net/feature.aspx?901 XLR8R Podcast: http://www.xlr8r.com/podcast/2011/10/robert-hood CLR Podcast: http://clr.net/news.pl?id=178&inline=1 Links: http://mplantmusic.com/ with DJs from MESS & CrowdPleaser Sound by Basscouch Visuals by Jane da Pain WhompTruck Room: ================ iONik Stefan B Foster + Whomp Truck DJs 10pm - 6am . 21+ $20 . $15 after 2am, with wristband/stamp @ The Werks 3821 Steele St, Denver Sign up for our email list at www.heartheearth.org
