SOUND ADVENTURES with special guest VOODOO FRANK (NYC) spinning african funk/disco records support act: Hibiya Line & superkid FRIDAY, OCTOBER 19TH, 2012 9PM - LATE 100, 000VND ENTRANCE DRINK SPECIALS LA FENETRE SOLEIL 2ND FLR, 44 LY TU TRONG STREET DISTRICT 1, HCMC EADJ's newest party, SOUND ADVENTURES focuses on bringing top international and regional acts to HCMC. For our first party, we've got VOODOO FRANK, an 14 year+ veteran DJ of the German-New York "Vampyros Lesbos" parties as well as the biggest European deep funk parties, "Soul Explosion". Frank is also an avid (to say the least) collector of rare African Funk and Disco 45s. He holds one of the biggest record collection of African funk and disco records. He frequently returns to Africa in search of rare records, traveling into war-torn areas looking for those lost hidden gems. At times he had to flee through countries under martial law, spent days stranded due to broken down bush taxis, got robbed at machete-point and braved thousands of miles of unpaved roads. All of this in order to find those rare and unknown grooves to share with the rest of the world. Frank's critically acclaimed blog, VOODOO FUNK, not only recounts these adventures but also gives us little samplings and mixes of those treasures. It is followed by many including the Beastie Boys. Frank's DJ sets burst with exclusive tracks that are so rare that they can't be heard anywhere else on this planet while his over 15 years of experience in selecting tracks for a dancing crowd keeps him from sacrificing accessibility for the mere sense of obscurity. As a lead up to the party, there be screening a documentary film based on Voodoo Frank, called "Take Me Away Fast" on October 16th at Decibel Lounge. LINKS: VOODOO FUNK "Take Me Away Fast"
