  • 5 Years of Louche... Sat 17th November The Mint Club It's been 5 years since it all began, and how things have changed. We were just an intimate party amongst friends in the old, slightly run down Mint Club, getting together once a month to listen to music that we wanted to listen to. While that still remains true, Mint has changed into the place you know and love today thanks to an extensive refit. We've had guests such as Omar S, Nicolas Jaar, Zip, Prosumer, Seth Troxler, Moodymann, Ricardo Villalobos, Wolf + Lamb and many more join us over the years. Now London parties are a regular fixture, as well as the odd European festival appearance and a long running podcast series. 5 years has never gone by so quickly! We'd like to thank everyone who has contributed and danced with us over the years as we wouldn't be here without you! Come and join us this November as we bring in the half decade in classic Louche birthday style with Steffi, Move D and Detroit Swindle (live) soundtracking your evening. First up to help us see in 5 years is Steffi, an artist who we've long since admired for her classic DJ skills and wonderful work in the studio. Her debut album 'Yours & Mine' on Ostgut Ton in 2011 is a contemporary house classic; with tunes ranging from atmospheric, melodic house to tougher acid edged techno, flavoured with work from assorted vocalists. She is of course most famous for her notorious residency at Panormama Bar, where we've first hand witnessed her tear the place to pieces with her old school style of mixing records. Underground hero Move D is next up, the highly respected German jetting in to play Mint Club for the first time. Releasing since '94 on labels such as Workshop, Uzuri, Philpot, Compost and even Warp the German producer always pushes house and techno's boundaries towards analog outer space. His eclectic DJ sets inspire unequalled positive emotion, capable of dropping records that get even the nerdiest spotters in a twist. It'll be his first Louche appearance ever, and we can't wait to stick a party hat on his head and let him work his magic. Amsterdam live duo Detroit Swindle's musical upbringing consists of Motown-soul, funk and jazz, and it is with these inspirations that they uniquely flex their muscles around house and techno music. Their productions are best described as contemporary interpretations of classic soul tracks, with melodical grooves, jazzy chords and bumping baselines. 2012 has been their breakthrough year, with releases on Saints and Sonnets, Murmur and Dirt Crew all doing the business on dancefloors all over the world, spun by everyone from Laurent Garnier to DJ Sneak. They've already played the premium venues in Germany, Ibiza and Holland this year, this November they add Mint Club to their hit list, as they make their Leeds debut.
