Darkside is electronic whiz kid Nicolas Jaar‟s collaborative side project with the guitarist from his band Dave Harrington. Darkside began when a converter plug exploded in the duo‟s Berlin hotel room during their summer tour. When the smoke cleared, their white Genelec speakers were fried. But rather than retiring for the night, they plugged into a computer and merged sounds, and Darkside was born. Darkside offers a hybrid of electronic music and a unique guitar-based sound which Nico says is “centred around a fairy I met in my dreams. And The Black Keys.” Born in New York but brought up in his father‟s birthplace of Santiago de Chile, Nicolas Jaar has been described as one of the least predictable and most experimental dance music producers of the early 2000s.
