Unsound is producing a mini festival in Tbilisi, Georgia on the 14th and 15th December. This marks a small step in what we hope will be a longer relationship between Unsound and curators and artists in Georgia.
Along with the Goethe-Institut Tbilisi, the event is being produced and curated with local promoter / DJ Tomma Chaladze. Partners include The Adam Mickiewicz Institute, The Institut Français de Géorgie, The British Council Georgia and The EUNIC Cluster Fund.
The festival venue is a distinctive building from the 1950s, recently turned into a club called Mtkvarze, the name of the Kura River in Georgian, which it overlooks.
Artists featured encompass a wide range of styles, from experimental to club music, with Berlin-based electronic music pioneers pole and Thomas Fehlmann of The Orb headlining, along with the French Raster-Noton musician Kangding Ray, Poland's Jacek Sienkiewicz and PAN artist Heatsick, from the UK.
Other Polish artists include Piotr Kurek, the Warsaw-based synth enthusiast, Robert Piernikowski of Napszyklat, and experimental artist Zenial. Georgian artists will also of course feature strongly, with Tusia Beridze (aka TBA and Natalia Beridze), Jorjick, Nikakoi, Nika J and Tomma Chaladze. Live visuals will be presented by Tbilisi video artists Temo Machavariani and George Mozgovoi.
A workshop on mastering will be given by Stefan Betke at the Goethe-Institut Tbilisi, as well as a presentation by Lukasz Szalenkiewicz, focusing on his own releases as Zenial and Aabzu and the Polish experimental music scene in general.
