Cargo Warehouse Party: Forward Strategy Group Matthew Burton

  • Come all ye faithful. No seriously! YOU are our faithful, and for one last time in 2012 we invite you to come and join us for one humdinger of a hoe down. They say simplicity is the key to... erm, things that are good. And as such we’re going to keep this one as simple as possible. Although, as you will discover, thats quite a challenge. You see, its difficult to know what to bill this next party as. It could be one of so many things. It could be a Christmas Party. Or a new resident launch party. It could even be a welcome back residents of yesteryear party. Bit of a mouthful that last one mind. At the end of the day, whatever the name, its fucking Cargo. You know what we do by now. So, lets get back onto the theme of simplicity - I promise not to wander off. Here goes... Cargo. Warehouse cum studio space. Techno. Secret house den. Christmas vibes. Rave. And in essence that's all you need to know. Its a simple formula from which you can deduce that we’ll be having a rare old knees up. Leave the long multiplication and algebra to us. OK, we know you have a thirst for knowledge so here’s some more information. 1) Techno. That's right, we bring you the first ‘proper’ techno act since Mark Broom at the 6th birthday party. This time however, in the form of FORWARD STRATEGY GROUP (Stroboscopic Artefacts, Perc Trax). The duo makes industrial, spacey throbsters that scare your granny and anger country and western fans, who would refer to it as ‘boom, boom, boom music’. Thank goodness they do. Otherwise you’d be reading this from beneath the brim of a stetson. Or propped by a zimmer frame. Or both. 2) Shiny new resident. The observant of you will have heard we’ve signed that rascal MATTHEW BURTON as our newest, coolest and downright grooviest resident extraordinaire. Now that's a big word and a very silly sentence. So lets return to simplicity good old Yorkshire style. Matthew is reyt good. He makes proper good records and plays them too. Done. If you know what Matthew is all about then you’ll appreciate what a coup this is for us. If you don't, do your homework and prepare to be bedazzled. 3) Old resident. Remember that lad who used to smash out techno at our parties a few years back? Well he moved to Leeds and ended up as resident at one the cities best and most underground parties ‘Shhh_ift’. He went by the name of Ryan Johnson (still does as it happens) and we’ve asked him back to Sheffield for one night only. So if you’re of the techno persuasion, the combination of young Johnson and headliners Forward Strategy Group should have your wetter than an otters pocket. 4) Warehouse cum studio space. This new space (which is slowly becoming the venue de rigueur at Cargo HQ) is the kind of evolving rave den that makes scenesters quiver at 30 paces. If you came to our recent after parties with young upstarts Prosumer and Roman Flugel (they’ll never catch on) then you know that we’ve uncovered a truly exciting patch. This shall be Cargo’s first full night at the space, dubbed Eyre Lane to you and I. Oh and this time around we will be opening a super secret 2nd room! In which we’re stupidly giving GrowMore free reign, so expect the unexpected. In fact, just expect house and disco and plenty of it. Its called GrowMore's Love Lounge. Make of that what you will. Well that's another year almost over. And we’re bloody pleased about how its all gone thank you very much. We’ve had some great times and we thank you the Cargo faithful for it. Love Cargo x PS: It’s yours.
