More about Pezzner: Up until 2008 Dave Pezzner was virtually unknown to the electronic dance music community, aside from his works in the duo Jacob London (Classic Music, Doubledown, U-Freqs). For 16 years he cut his chops with partner Bob Hansen, creating eccentric house and break beat rhythms often crossing the lines between bad-ass, funky and hilarious.
In the winter of 2008, Pezzner took to his own studio to begin work on his first solo output composing songs that are more serious, with an abstract artistic sensibility. Quickly Dave’s catalog began to materialize with a signature sound: Lofty percussive themes with intentions to create hypnotic soundscapes for the body as well as the brain. It wasn’t long before Pezzner found his first 5 songs scooped up by London-based Freerange Records, covering the first two EP’s of his career, “Other Lover” and the epic three-part masterpiece “Almost Here.” These two EPs garnered him massive support from artists as varied as John Digweed, Laurent Garnier, Peter Kruder, Steve Bug and Ben Watt, setting up Pezzner as a producer on the rise.
These first two releases laid a solid foundation for his career and follow-ups are now in the pipeline on Om Records, London’s Urbantorque Recordings, plus another EP for Freerange. Dave has also got an arsenal of remixes forthcoming for heavyweights including Josh Wink, Mark Farina, and Mike Monday. Its a dizzying number of releases for an emerging artist, but now that Pezzner’s stepped out on his own, he’s definitely got a lot to say.
More about Jay Tripwire: Always sitting slightly off-centre, Vancouver original Jay Tripwire‘s signature fusion of deep Detroit textures and intricate rhythms has led a career spanning two decades. A dedicated dj, distinguishing himself with his personal arsenal of re-edits and comfort in arranging extended DJ sets, the west coast pioneer remains also one of the most prolific producer around, with numerous releases, remixes and compilations including the recent ‘Shaping Elements’ mix CD he did for Steve Bug‘s Poker Flat and is currently gaining momentum with acclaimed releases on Akbal, his own imprint Tonality and his forthcoming EP for D’julz Bass Culture Records.
More about Luke McKeehan: The year 2012 marks the 15th anniversary of Nordic Trax, and if recent output is any indication, the music has never been better. DJ and radio support continues to pour in from the likes of Luciano, Mark Knight, Kenny Dope, DJ T, Robert Owens, King Britt, Terry Francis, Fish Go Deep, Graeme Park, Franck Roger and many more.
A producer and globe-trotting deejay in his own right, McKeehan was named among the Top 50 Artists & Entertainers in Vancouver. Besides his own headlining sets Luke has been the opening act of choice for music royalty on tour including David Bowie, Bassment Jaxx, Jamiroquai, St. Germain & Kaskade to name only a few. His mixed-CD ‘Many Shades of House’ received a near- perfect rating from DJ Magazine, who exclaimed "The love affair continues with this latest Nordic Trax gem". Label releases have been widely licensed and clients include Fabric UK, Nike, Defected, Turbo, Om Records, Sony, Queer As Folk, PIAS, Global Underground, Alliance/Atlantis, Showcase & more.
