Jaunt have been organising raves in Newcastle for four years now, and have in recent times spread their wings to London and Ibiza as well, with a razor-sharp focus on premium international house and techno. Recent guests have included Subb-an, Marcel Dettmann and Adam Shelton. The integrity of Jaunt as a night is evident not just in their booking, but in their less-is-more attitude where better artists are encouraged to play longer sets, sometimes all night, to give a greater breadth of artistic and narrative scope. Needless to say, such values in running parties bodes well for their boat on Friday afternoon, ushering in the weekend.
Crosstown Rebels newest signing wAFF heads up the bill, bringing his distorted view on classic house and techno to the decks. “Jo Johnson” (Hot Creations) earned wAFF the rather prestigious accolade of Dennis Ferrer’s tune of the year, and this epitomises the producer’s rapid ascension to fame of late. Now an official part of The Rebel Agency, he rubs shoulders with the like of Damian Lazarus and Jamie Jones. Joining him is house and garage impresario Mike Gill, with releases on Wolf + Lamb, Mexa and Electronique Digital to his name. A recent taking to soul and disco has taken Mike’s sound beyond the streets of London. His versatility will be on full display in his set.
