THE OFFBEAT join us for this week’s Freestyle having built a strong reputation across the Midlands in 2012, their music taking in elements of roots, indie, world and pop music to create a contemporary folk sound. This culminated with the release of their debut album at the start of this month, which you can check out and buy at http://theoffbeat.bandcamp.com.
BELLA DIEM return to the Bull’s Head, having initially played for us back in Summer 2011. The band have developed considerably in the time since, graduating from Access To Music and securing a residency at the much-loved Sunflower Lounge. Bella Diem’s alternative pop sound is influenced by the likes of Pink Floyd, Fleet Foxes, Cee Lo Green and Joni Mitchell, as well as their love of nature and space.
MOJOHOOKER are an electrifying five-piece blues-funk band, offering a smouldering selection of originals and 70s covers. Think Stevie Ray Vaughan meets Etta James, Buddy Guy meets The Meters meets The 3 Kings and you’ll be somewhere thereabouts.
On DJ duties we welcome back FREE SCHOOL, two of Birmingham’s finest purveyors of all things disco and boogie with a sprinkling of house, Freestyle resident SAM REDMORE who will be bringing a seriously heavy trunk of funk to the party and PATRICE, making his debut on the Bull’s Head decks.
