There’s not much we can say about this 20 year old house producer from Montreal except that his music is incredible and it’s sort of taken over our studio environment in the last months since his then anonymous demo arrived in our inbox. What time will tell is that this guy isn’t a stranger to LuckyMe at all, but a good friend of ours for a few years simply growing into some new tastes. But look, I’ve said too much already. With his first 12″, Baby (I Don’t Know What You Want), dropping via our peoples at Night Slugs any time soon, you can catch The Look, a 4 track 12″ EP debut by Jacques Greene on LuckyMe this November. Harry Ransom has played throughout the U.S., from San Franscisco and Los Angeles, to Miami, Atlanta, Philadelphia, New York and Boston. As of late, his focus is more on production, with several releases on Baltimore-based label Tharsis Records. He remains a constant presence in the Washington, DC music scene, regularly plays at U Street Music Hall, 411 Warehouse, TnT, Rock & Roll Hotel and Jimmy Valentine's Lonely Hearts Club, and booked by promoters such as Eighty Eight Music, 3D Productions, Steez Productions and a few more. He has maintained resident DJ status on Expansion Broadcast for the past six years, and is currently a monthly resident at Backbar.
Asked what his influences are, Ransom states "Late nights out in the city. Cold lift rides in the mountains. Heavy bass lines and hard hitting kick drums, lively snares and shuffled hi-hats."
Currently he works under the names Harry Ransom and R4NS0M, depending on the style of music produced.

More than 1,500 musical luminaries have participated in past incarnations of the Red Bull Music Academy. Former lecturers include Chuck D, Erykah Badu, Steve Reich, Sly & Robbie, Mark Ronson, M.I.A., Hot Chip, dubstep pioneers Skream and Benga, MF Doom, James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem, RZA, Gilberto Gil, CHIC’s Nile Rodgers, El Guincho, and pioneering synth inventor Bob Moog, amongst others. Many Academy alumni have gone on to become true innovators of their scenes like LA soul singer Aloe Blacc (“I Need A Dollar”); experimental electronic music producer Flying Lotus, currently collaborating with Erykah Badu and Thom Yorke; Hudson Mohawke, producer extraordinaire, one half of TNGHT, and the latest addition to Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. label; and singer/songwriter Jamie Woon, who last year recorded a Mercury Prize Session, a celebration of the best live music in the UK.
The Red Bull Music Academy has been pairing industry legends and emerging music-makers since 1998 in cities such as Berlin, Seattle, Cape Town, Melbourne, Barcelona, Rome, São Paulo and London. This unique combination of old school knowledge and new school music is unrivaled for its creative exploration and achievement. Each Red Bull Music Academy leaves behind structures to inhabit musical collaboration and creative exchange for years to come. By the end of 2012, there will be eight fully functioning Red Bull Music Academy recording studios around the world.
