  • As the afterglow from a memorable New Year's Day party wears off and the great and good of Leeds head back to the daily grind, here at mono_cult HQ we are looking towards another milestone. From humble beginnings on a lazy Sunday afternoon 6 years ago in the company of Exercise One at The Lounge (yes, the Roast Dinners were divine), we've been on a journey thats taken us here, there, everywhere and back again. From intimate warehouse shindigs in Holbeck to 2000-strong outdoor parties at The Faversham, via sojourns in Spain and Croatia; from New year's celebrations through Easter Sunday shenanigans, courtesy of the sounds of Detroit, Berlin and everywhere in between; we've really had it all these last 6 years! And amongst all the variety and innovation, the only common theme running through it all has been our commitment to bringing to Leeds the best underground sounds the world has to offer - and the good times and incomparable atmosphere that have come with it. And for anyone who has shared some of those high points with us - well, we're all in for a treat. After the amazing response to our debut party at Canal Mills in November, we're returning with a line-up to make your mouth water. ---- Innervisions head honcho, friend of mono_cult and all round badman DIXON is making a much anticipated return to Leeds. After a year in which he has found himself at the top end of nearly every end-of-year DJ poll (again), by doing little more than headlining some of the world's best club nights and putting out a few choice remixes - his latest on Innervisions, a rework of Ian Pooley's Compurhythm, yet another soaring beauty for the trophy cabinet. Having only missed out on a career in professional football through recurring injury (true story), he instead applied that dexterity to the ones and twos, and after 20 years on the Berlin and then global circuit, it shows. Along with label-mate Ame, this man has done more than anyone to shape the mono_cult sound in recent history, and we can't wait to have him back. Another man at the top of his game, SCUBA divides his time between running the world-renowned underground label HotFlush, curating the legendary Sub:stance at Berghain, producing award-winning albums and touring the globe with his unique fusion of the sub-heavy sounds of London and Berlin. His sunrise set at Hideout Festival last year was one of the highlights of our summer, and we expect nothing short of brilliance again when he takes to the turntables at Canal Mills. One of the most respected figures in the industry, PROSUMER is also making a welcome return to our dancefloor - after gracing one of our favourite ever parties down in Wire way back in 2010! Consistently one of the tightest producers and DJs around, the former Panorama Bar resident is bringing his vast collection of wax and his party-starting outlook to Leeds once more. Having made his name with Rinse FM, ONEMAN is one of a rare breed nowadays - rather than waste his time in a studio trying to produce his own beats, he has devoted his musical career instead to the art of DJing - seamlessly blending music from all ends of the spectrum in such a delightful way that, were it not for his suitably descriptive DJ moniker, you would think there was more than one person creating that magic behind the decks. And coming in tow, we welcome the return of Ben Westbeech aka BREACH. His live show for us in 2011 was one of the more unusual sets we've ever witnessed at mono_cult, and after 2 years of much success and accolades under his new moniker Breach, he will undoubtedly bring all the interesting musicality you would expect from a classically trained cellist and jazz vocalist who makes UKG-inspired, bass-heavy dance music. Its been emotional. Here's to the next 6 years! the_cult x
