Time to step into the new year with a thud, we bring you a true underground veteran and one mysterious emerging talent. Combining Leeds' old school with new, both of these artists are sure not to disappoint:
Paul Woolford (Planet E/Hotflush/20:20 Vision)

"With music being released on Carl Craig's Planet E, Scuba's Hotflush Recordings, London's Phonica label, Paul Woolford keeps reinventing himself and pushing the boundaries, maintaining a hectic global tour schedule playing key clubs globally such as Panorama Bar, Fabric, Warung and D Edge in Brazil, and for the 6th year, the renewal of his key We Love.. Space on Sundays residency in Ibiza.
Many know Paul Woolford's name through the 2005/6 slow-burning hit "Erotic Discourse", released on 2020 Vision, the Leeds label with which he made his name initially. The success of this proved he has the ability to create a genre-defining sound and led to sales of over 15,000, capturing the imagination of DJs across the board from Ivan Smagghe to Ricardo Villalobos, The Chemical Brothers, Richie Hawtin and DJ Hell to Francois Kevorkian, Laurent Garnier, Trevor Jackson to Erol Alkan. Indeed Erol Alkan described the track as "a modern day psyche record" and the track became a stone-cold classic."

"As his name would suggest, Last Magpie picks up, gathers and masterfully combines musical gems from across the board to create and influence his finely tuned house and 2step hybrids. He aims to keep his style quite open and unspecific to any one genre under his Magpie moniker drawing from elements of house, techno, dub and garage (UK & US) with a hint of old school jungle.
Last Magpie has notably chalked up a number of well-received releases for Hypercolour and its little sister imprint, Losing Suki. Without fail, each release has pushed both his and the label’s sound forward with an adept skill of crafting something new each time."
