We are delighted to announce the return of Todd Terje to the Button Factory on Saturday May 25th. Terje has kept a high profile in electronic music scene for the last half decade through his extensive touring, edits and constant remix assignments. Alongside compatriots Prins Thomas and Hans-Peter Lindstrom, he has spearheaded the Norwegian-nuanced disco sound (dub-pop, nu-Balearic, cosmic-Kraut—whatever you want to call it) that has proved so popular.
His fondness for tailoring tracks not necessarily for release, but rather for playing purposes is a signature of the Norwegian's—his Tangoterje re-edits of acts as diverse as Wham, Chic, Jan Hammer, Chris Rea and John Paul Young for instance, have earned him enviable notoriety.
Remixes for Jose Gonzalez, Antena and the now almost-canonical rework of Dolle Jolle's "Balearic Incarnation" have provided some of dance music's most blissed-out, loved-up moments in recent years, and are frankly so well known by now that any further discussion of their musical merit here seems like a waste of time.
2012 was his biggest year to date and saw Terje collaborate with Bryan Ferry, have Robbie Williams sample his track ‘Eurodans’ and the undeniable tune Inspector Norse was championed by many as tune of the year.
Support on the night comes from Matty J, Ben Terry & Robert Needham who are musical partners in crime who have been playing records together for over half a decade. The trio are resident DJs for East London label Tirk Records, the critically acclaimed imprint that rose from the ashes of the legendary Nuphonic stable.
They also work together running The Pool‚ a booking agency that spans the finest dancefloors across the globe. They have played many of the most prestigious Festival stages in the UK, Big Chill, Bestival & the rest, with other parties in spots as diverse as Malawi, Los Angeles, Melbourne, Berlin, Stockholm & Lille. Along with annual residencies at The Garden Festival, Snowbombing and hosting a room for We Love.. at Space in Ibiza.
They have also hosted their own London promotions including Blaze Of Glory‚ which ran monthly at The Heavenly Social for a number of years. Equally happy playing slow burning warm-ups as causing peak time disco destruction, in the words of Tirk003 these boys are Hungry.
