ONEMAN SOLITAIRE TOUR Following his critically acclaimed contribution to the Fabriclive mix series (FABRICLIVE 64) last year and 2010's celebrated Rinse 11 mix, this month sees Oneman aka Steve Bishop drop his first ever unaffiliated mixtape: Solitaire Vol. 1. Under wraps for the time being, all we can tell you is that this release will be a statement of intent for what's to come from the rapidly rising London-based DJ, reflecting his incendiary sets and immaculate selections across Rinse FM, Boiler Room and more. Expect a melting pot of stripped back UK club jams and US Rap with a couple of classics thrown in for good measure, plus exclusive edits from Oneman himself, some of which will drop ahead of release. To whet appetites he’s made his moody house edit of ‘Chained’ by The xx available for download – grab it at the link above. Speaking to FACT, Oneman commented, “The tape was a gamble really, mostly off the cuff mixes... a game of subsonic solitaire, where risks sometimes pay off." Solitaire Vol. 1 will be released on January 28th via djoneman.net http://www.facebook.com/thedjoneman http://soundcloud.com/djoneman99 http://twitter.com/djoneman _____________ Brenmar // "Brenmar was a name given to me by my then 2 year old brother. Born in Chicago, living in NYC, this is club music for the present" - Club, Bass, HipHop, R&B on Grizzly, Hum & Buzz, Mixpa : Brenmar brings the party. Ben Martin // With a wealth of experience behind him, both as a DJ and as an industry figure, Ben Martin started the High Sheen imprint alongside his good pal, Sam Murray last year. Since then the Glasgow based label have put out four records from burgeoning local talent. Through the artists they work with, Martin and Murray are projecting a little bit of their taste out into the ether and it’s something that’s definitely caught our ear, with their label’s unique amalgamation of classic house and techno colliding with current trends in a little bit of a more informed manner. It’s something you can sense in the way they’ve presented the music: from the effort and expense poured into their high quality sleeves to the output of the artists they work with, it’s obvious that stuff like this has been a passion for them for some time now. That well informed, knowing feeling is replicated in Martin’s DJing where he contextualizes a whole heap of High Seen related material amongst music from artists in the present as well as borrowed from the past. Totally aware of where everything fits and continually conscious of how it’s presented, it’s an approach that works best because of the way it builds, always keeping an eye on the tracks working for the dance floor.
