Inspiriert von post-apokalyptischen Zukunftsvisionen, hat sich das im Nebel der Anonymität bewegenden Duo Polar Inertia vor zwei Jahren zusammen getan und zwei außergewöhnliche Platten auf dem französischen Label Dement3d veröffentlicht. Filigran / schwer, hell / dunkel, gnadenlose Drums / emotionale Sounds – Polar Inertia spielen mit Kontrasten, ihre langen Tracks sind hypnotische und minimalistische Technomonster mit feinster Stechapfel-Wirkung, ergänzt von jeweils einem enigmatischen Spoken Word Stück. Live ein sonisches Erlebnis und perfekt in den musikalischen Slot von Speedy J’s Electric Deluxe Label passend, das sich heute mit einigen Leckerbissen wie dem italienischen Mental Techno DJ Giorgio Gigli präsentiert. In der Panorama Bar macht Scuba mit seinem Label Hotflush Station, unter anderem mit dem Belgier Tim Van de Meutter alias Locked Groove, der in seinen DJ-Sets mit Vorliebe die 909 Warehouse Schelle auspackt. Mit „DRGN“ hat auch Recondite schon auf Hotflush veröffentlicht, ansonsten kennt man seine schlagkräftigen Roland-Exkursionen auf Dystopian, Absurde und Plangent. On Acid aber auch ohne sehr gut.
Der Nachmittag liegt dann in der Hand von Virginia und Konsortinnen. Nicht nur, dass es Grund zum Feiern gibt ( Virginias Debüt-EP auf Ostgut Ton), sondern auch Patrice Scott gesellt sich nach langer Abstinenz wieder hinters Panorama Bar Mischpult.
Electric Deluxe Presents makes the pilgrimage over to the hallowed Techno Mecca on Saturday April 6 with roster acts Jeff Derringer, Blackasteroid, Giorgio Gigli and guests in tow.
Much has happened since our last Berlin outing back in November 2011. EDP has spread its wings internationally, landing in London and Lausanne as part of 2012’s April Weekender, and even heading as far as Colombia towards the year’s close for Antiguo Carnival, in Medellin. Meanwhile the party’s Dutch presence has been on the up with more sell out shows at our Melkweg home, a formidable return to Mysteryland last August and EDP’s ambitious afterhour triple header at ADE in October.
Label-wise we have had the pleasure of welcoming Chicago-based Jeff Derringer into the fold, who debuted in collaboration with L.A.’s Droid Behavior brothers Raiz on ‘Deception’. Jeff has been key in ferrying EDP across the Atlantic, co-hosting our first ever Detroit outing last November together with NCY dub veteran Brendon Moeller. As resident and creative director of Oktave we couldn’t ask for better State-side representation, and we’re honoured to have him play with us this time a little closer to home.
Zooloft co-founder and heady trance master Giorgio Gigli joined the roster as production outfit Endless. Together with Perc the pair have produced two EPs solely for EDLX in 2011, though has been on the books and EDP line ups solo for some time now. We’re happy to have him aboard once more.
Bryan Black AKA Blackasteroid is our newest recruit, having debuted the slightly revised project (which first aired on CLR) with the analogue-fashioned ‘Black Acid EP’ not so long ago. This has recently been treated to remixes from Perc, Alva Noto, Len Faki, Angel Costa and DJ Emerson, turned into a collectable double package release we’ll be chinking our glasses to on April 6.
The line up concludes with local support from resident Norman Nodge and Berghain / Panoramabar mainstay Oliver Deutschmann, as well as must see live performance of sci-fi inspired techno from up-and-coming Parisians Polar Inertia.
