  • ::INTRODUCING STATES OF BEING:: Conceived as a new entry to color the rich Los Angeles underground, States of Being aims to present the classic American house sound and the djs and producers who are carrying these traditions into the present. The collective behind the event has secured an amazing space, soundsystem and line-up to present these sounds in a laid-back setting with emphasis on music and the joy of dancing with your friends. We require an RSVP (http://statesofbeing.com/) and will release the location the night of the event. There will be a full bar and the event is scheduled to run from 10 PM to 5 AM. On the lineup: Andrés LA born-and-bred, but Detroit to the core, Dj Dez Andrés requires little introduction. Andrés moved to Detroit and studied music while working at Buy Rite records alongside Rick Wilhite, Theo Parrish, and Kenny Dixon, Jr. Originally a drummer, Andrés met J Dilla when working out of Amp Fiddler’s house, and credits the late legend with fostering his deep listening skills. Originally a hip-hop DJ, Andrés dj’d for Slum Village and began releasing his first house productions through Moodymann’s KDJ label in the late-90s. A string of gorgeous house 12-inches, cut from the same cloth as KDJ’s classic 8-mile sound, followed, as well as three more varied album length statements (Andrés I-III). During this period, Andrés built an impressive reputation with his anything goes dj style. In 2012, Andrés launched his own La Vida label, to keep certain rarities in print, and the rest, as they say, is history. The first La Vida release “New For U” was one of the most inescapable and perfect house records put out in 2012, topping Resident Advisor’s year-end singles chart. The "Things U Like" 12-inch on M1 was just as strong and La Vida returned late in the year with the awesome "Second Time Around." When certain Andrés’ music hits, you feel no pain, and we are honored to present the Detroit legend as our first headlining booking. http://www.rbmaradio.com/shows/andres-fireside-chat http://www.beatsinspace.net/playlists/634 Delroy Edwards Born and raised in Los Angeles, Delroy has returned to the West Coast after a stint in NYC during which he put in work at A1 Records and became a crucial member of Ron Morelli’s white-hot L.I.E.S. crew. Delroy had a huge 2012, releasing his debut “4 Club Use Only” 12 inch for the L.I.E.S. label and quickly following up with an appearance on the American Noise sampler 12-inch and a hyper-limited XMAS L.I.E.S. black label. Delroy shows no sign of slowing down in 2013, representing LA to the fullest and embarking on his first European tour with the L.I.E.S. crew in March. http://www.junodownload.com/plus/2012/12/19/juno-plus-podcast-50-delroy-edwards/ Cromie (via Rhonda Intl.) "My homie Cromie is just that, the homie through and through. With a giant cheshire cat like smile plastered across his face and an infectious cheerfulness it’s hard not to feel at home around him. When you add that to his carnal knowledge of all things deep u know I had to christen him into the Rhonda International fam. Croation born and LA bred, this transplant has an undying love for unshakeable tenets of house & garage, and it shines through in his music." - States of Being is honored to count Cromie as part of our team. Cromie is primed for a huge 2013, and will be setting it off regularly at this and every States of Being event. Cromie's debut productions are set for release in the spring, and have already been supported by Jacques Greene, Oneman and others. http://soundcloud.com/rhonda/radio-free-rhonda-002-cromie James Del Barco Meet James Del Barco - young, talented dj and producer coming out of SFV and doing big things in the city. A regular dj at Rhonda’s semimonthly tributes to excess, 2013 will see James' first releases on the Rhonda International imprint. Longtime employee at the Fairfax Turntable Lab (R.I.P.), James began his life on the beat turning out house parties in the Valley with his friends. He’s come a long way but maintained this basic love for the craft. See for yourself. http://soundcloud.com/rhonda/radio-free-rhonda-005-james Dj Jordan Jordan is a SF to LA transplant and longtime Amoeba records employee, who humbly describes himself as a music enthusiast, record store employee, and disc jockey. Jordan possesses a stunning knowledge of house music and the D.I.Y. ideals and imagination which drove its Chicago forebears. Jordan helms the monthly SF (and occasionally LA) party 2 Men Will Move You, and has brought it at Funkmosphere and countless other parties. “Jordan’s House Picks” have turned countless LA djs onto unexpected gems - if you don’t know, Jordan might. http://2menwillmoveyou.tumblr.com/
