Mulletover 4th Birthday Acid House Special

  • We can hardly believe it’s been four years we’ve been seeking out secret locations, immersing ourselves in dark and vast warehouse surroundings filled with the underground sounds of the moment, smiling at these strangers who all flock for that special Saturday at the end of every month. mulletover celebrate this achievement with an ode to the history of house music. Room 1 unleashes ‘Back To The Future’ taking a look at the current sounds through the lens of experienced and recent artists. When the history of postmodern dance music is written A Guy Called Gerald is ubiquitous: his stylistic versatility, open mindedness and experimentations with acid house and later jungle had a huge influence on the development of global dance culture. 2008 marks 20 years since the release of his Hacienda classic Voodoo Ray and to mark the occasion he will be unleashing a live set of raw new material in a true rave environment. Shinedoe is justly the lady of the moment bringing a fresh sound to the table. Head of Intacto records her style has developed through over a decade of festivals and global performances enabling her music to gain a deep individuality. This is a rare chance to catch her perform on our shores. Adam Shelton is the man behind the Below empire, now hosting the most talked about parties in Birmingham and outside of London. A rising star in the contemporary breed of artists and makeshift parties he joins us for the second time at mulletover. Geddes is responsible alongside Rob Star for bringing mulletover to be treasured for its consistently first-rate music and atmosphere, his diverse and warm style continually pushes depth into the parties. The second part of the birthday celebrations ‘Back To The Old Skool’ will showcase how dance began, highlighted by those that were around to witness its beginnings. The legendary DJ Pierre will be making the journey from America to show why it was the true birthplace of house music. Back in the day when acid was just a tab, DJ Pierre was inventing a sound that would impact on the music scene forever giving birth to the first acid house record, Phuture ‘Acid Tracks’. An inspiration to the present main players he has continued to produce and will be playing homage to his acid roots whilst showing his original perspective on music today. While foreign lands such as America and Ibiza were already embracing dance culture Trevor Fung helped push the UK to embrace it as their own. Hosting the first raves with Paul Oakenfold and giving the name to the celebrated Shoom parties he played a part in changing the landscape of all our weekends. Kurrage and Mr Shiver, old friends of mulletover add their enigmatic style to the room in a mulletover birthday that celebrates their own journey and promises to deliver lessons into the landscape of dance music culture.
