Music has historically oscillated between various styles and aesthetics, where the old sound suddenly becomes the new sound, only updated and expanded upon. San Francisco's dance music scene isn't any different: where once house music ruled supreme, minimal tech-house and techno now reverberate through clubs and underground parties across the city. Techno is in a renaissance, and San Francisco DJ and producer, Alland Byallo, has been an intricate part in redefining the city's sound. Byallo is a resident at [KONTROL], San Francisco's seminal monthly techno party at the End Up. [KONTROL] has been instrumental in bringing techno to the masses by bringing in the biggest DJ's and producers from around the world as well as showcasing the strong and diverse talent that is thriving in San Francisco. In addition, Byallo has quickly risen in stature as a prolific producer, with releases on over a dozen labels including his own imprint, Nightlight Music. Byallo's musical endeavors – from soulful, deep house to funky, minimal techno – create a body of work that is always fresh yet has an emotive quality that brings to mind that one party you'll always remember from years long past.
