Futurism returns to Bar Music Hall for its biggest night yet and a Bank Holiday special with double live bill.

March 2011 saw Alena's debut release of 'Changes' & 'Learn to Get By' remixed by the mighty Ron Basejam through ISM Records, charted at No 1 in the Juno download Nu Disco chart and No 2 across the overall singles chart in the first week, an apt starting point for the story of a singer songwriter in the haze of this music industry.
‘Changes’ saw plays from DJ’s as diverse as Magda, Norman Jay, Joey Negro, Benji B & Greg Wilson, Greg charted it as the number 1 tune in his 2011 end of year chart.
Alena lives at the point where singer and songwriter meet, her sound, a sweet but smooth sundae of gospel, original soul, boogie and jazz, sprinkled with a dash of illuminating lyrics, grab both the ears and hearts of listeners. As well as live performing, Alena has been busy in the studio working with amongst others, 'Yam Who?
BJ Smith
A multi instrumentalist type with a creative skill and flare for all forms of art. Contrary to previous reports though he is self taught musically, with genetic influences passed down via a folk-music lineage stretching way back.
He’s a wildly eclectic and soul drenched performer, trawling the live circuit for many years, and now alongside Phil Cooper runs Nu Northern Soul records.
Hailed as "King of the collab" (Shout4Music), BJ Smith can be heard on an array of projects that continue to create a stir, his latest release and wildly acclaimed ‘Umi Says & Runnin’ are part of the forthcoming ‘Dedication To The Greats’ long player which has been championed regularly by Gilles Peterson.
As one half of Smith & Mudd on Claremont 56 he has been responsible for some of the most uplifting Balearic music of the past decade. He has collaborated with the likes of Faze Action, Crazy P to form the Yacht rock sounds of White Elephant, and Holger Czukay (Can) as part of the project Bison.
