  • Friday 12th July, Entail Records presents Kompakt in Room1 at FIRE, plus ENTAIL hosting room2 and happy to have the new London promoters launching Carat in room3. R1 hosted by Kompakt Gui Boratto / Tobia Thomas & Elekfantz. Kompakt is a record store, an international distributor, a record label and the home of the “Cologne sound”. Launched in 1998 by Wolfgang Voigt, Jurgen Paape and Michael Mayer upon the back of pre-existing labels Profan and Auftrieb, Kompakt soon developed its signature “Cologne Sound” – a mix of minimalism, melody, and melancholy, often with an underlying pop sensibility. Over the past seven years Kompakt’s inherent love of melody and emotion has seen the label embrace such seemingly disparate styles as ambient, minimal techno, tech-house, shuffle-tech, trance, and pop. The creation of sub-labels such as Kompakt Pop and Kompakt Extra hints at the diverse and ever-growing nature of the label. Thanks to its distribution network, it’s become a key player in the electronic music scene in Europe helping such labels as Traum, Musik Krause, Sender, and Dial. R2 hosted by Entail The Entail parties have been building up, word has spread around about what they do and so they had some pretty good times with Marc Houle, Matador, Dominik Eulberg, Perc, Sascha Dive, Tobi Neumann, Robert Babicz..++ They have also received strong support from underground up and comers London artists. ★ Gui Boratto Born in 1974 in São Paulo Brazil, Gui Boratto, architect, musician, composer and producer initiated his career in the advertising sector in 1993. From 1994 until 2004 he performed various works for countless record labels both national and international. From 2005 he began to dedicate himself to his own productions and compositions, displaying to the public an authoral and more personalized side to his abilities. With countless licenses with respected European labels, such as Kompakt, K2, Audiomatique, Harthouse, Plastic City, among others, Gui Boratto has managed to appear in the chart and playlists of world's most famous producers and DJs. ★ Tobias Thomas A longtime member of Cologne’s Kompakt camp, Tobias Thomas is a DJ and occasional producer. Tobias Thomas, born 1970, has been a member of the Kompakt family since the very early days. He has worked as a DJ since 1990, and has been involved in many collaborations & projects including Forever Sweet and Thomas/Mayer. He has sat at the remix desk alongside Dettinger, Superpitcher, Jörg Burger, Geiger, M.Mayer and Reinhard Voigt. As the former editor of the German music magazine SPEX he’s done interviews with Sven Väth, the Pet Shop Boys, Westbam, Depeche Mode, Wolfgang Tillmans, Erlend Øye, Justin Timberlake and many others. Together with all other editors he left SPEX for good in the end of 2006 as a reaction to its mysterious move to Berlin. For eight years, from 1998 to 2006, he has hosted the weekly Total Confusion night with Michael Mayer and Superpitcher in the famous Studio 672 club in Cologne (other resident nights include the Panoramabar in Berlin and the Robert Johnson in Offenbach). As a DJ he played in more than twenty countries and on four continents. He released three mix CDs, ‘Für Dich’ (1999), ‘Smallville’ (2003) and ‘Please Please Please’ (2007) on Kompakt and – with Forever Sweet – the album ‘Geben & Nehmen’ on Ladomat (1998). Since the beginning of 2007 Total Confusion found a new monthly home in a place called "Bogen2" in Cologne, part of a very old bridge beside the world famous cathedral. ★ Elekfantz aka Daniel Kuhnen (Warung Brazil) Every once in a while there is a DJ who suddenly draws a lot of attention. Nominated for "Best newcomer DJ of the Year" in the 2006 Cool Awards, the most prestigious prize in the Brazilian entertainment industry, Daniel Kuhnen is one of them. With little more than a year in the business, he made the headlines of the Brazilian electronic scene when he was hired as the new resident of Warung Beach Club, one of the top five clubs in the world according to the renowned British publications DJMag and MixMag. Warming up the dance floor became his specialty and his sets are known as one of the best warm-ups in the country. “Very few DJs know how to set the right mood to start the party like Daniel", said Deep Mariano after playing with him for the third time. His well earned reputation lead to great opportunities, such as sharing line ups with some of the biggest names like Sasha, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Danny Howells, Sander Kleinenberg, Satoshi Tomiie, Nic Fanciulli, James Zabiela, Armin Van Buuren, Martin Garcia, Phonique, 16 Bit Lolitas, Layo & Bushwacka, Luke Fair, Steve Angello, Miss Nine, Fatboy Slim, Deep Mariano, D-Nox & Beckers, Ferry Corsten and Paul Woolford just to mention a few. The harmony and sensitivity of his music come from his musical background. Daniel has erudite music training and plays the piano and the bass. He also had a band in the 90s. Today it is the samplers, loops and original mixes which create a unique sound. Without any gimmicks, his style is a fusion of house, techno, break beats, funk and disco elements always seeking the utopian perfect night. Gui Boratto, the great Brazilian producer said: "Daniel has good taste and really knows how to get the floor going. It is always a pleasure to play by his side". Daniel also produces and presents the radio show Warung Waves on Atlântida FM, the biggest electronic music radio show in the south of Brazil. Every week, more than 100.000 listeners tune in for two hours of new releases, exclusive sets by the greatest DJ's in Brazil and the world as well as complete listings of events at Warung and other clubs. Besides his commitments to Warung and his tours, Daniel has played at the top clubs and events in Brazil, such as Creamfields, D-Edge, Pacha, Skol Beats Warm Up, Vibe, Eon, Confraria das Artes, Beehive, Ibiza, Republica de Madras, Kiwi, Chairs, Sunrise Salvador and Fatboy Slim Carnival Party. Fueled by his success in Brazil, his international career is set to begin. His recent nomination to the "Ibiza DJ Awards 2008" was the credential which was lacking for Daniel to venture out towards the main parties around the globe. ★ Dadub The Italian techno duo mix a few dozen shades of black. "Techno" has been an extremely open-ended concept for Stroboscopic Artefacts, the Berlin-based imprint responsible for some of the genre's most wide-ranging excursions of late. Dadub, the duo who masters each of the label's releases and have contributed a handful of their own since 2011, truly embody the label's commitment to doing things differently. So while Daniele Antezza and Giovanni Conti have released on a handful of experimental internet labels over the years, Dadub have found their calling among the shifting rhythms and ambient excursions of Stroboscopic Artefacts. Pounding and hard-edged, Dadub's recently released debut LP, You Are Eternity, is unquestionably a techno record. But as its beats and textures tangle in the darkness, you're left wondering if the word really nails what they've about. They describe their approach in the studio as 'like making scent'. Dadub take sound and process it to extract depth and expose human warmth. With this studio outlook it was natural for Dadub to move into mastering. They delved in and Artefacts Mastering emerged: mastering that involves no presets and a policy of adjusting every track entirely from scratch. It's exactly this type of discipline, their use of open strategies instead of formulas that also makes Dadub so dynamic live.Live they layer dubbing and synthesis, they take Dadub material and deconstruct or reconstruct it spontaneously. Their sets are seriously deep and have been showcased internationally at Barcelona's Sonar festival, Germany's Melt! festival and in clubs from Berlin to Moscow and New York. There's something alchemical about Dadub whether live, on record or when commanding the studio. And when considering their mixes for CLR, Electric Deluxe or Electronic Explorations, it's clear that when given space and length they're ambitious. Over the last two years Dadub have spent hours synthesizing their debut album ‘You Are Eternity’ into existence. Scheduled for release on Stroboscopic Artefacts in early 2013, it’s already one of the most hotly anticipated albums of the year. ★ Darling Farah Darling Farah's home, the United Arab Emirates is one of the most club baron countries in the world and living in a city that actually prohibits live music to be played in public, the talented eighteen year old has managed to master the art of production and therein spawn an underground scene all on his own. Originally from Detroit, Farah was born into this world with techno already sewn into his DNA, something that despite his reclocation, came to the forefront of his mind as early as sixteen. Now regarded as the leader of a new, curious underground scene that resists the lock-down of the the UAE’s mainstream culture, Farah has truly positioned himself as the ultimate innovator. His debut will hit the shops via Civil Music on October 4th, signaling the arrival of this go to producer on European soil. “Berline,” like Farah himself, draws on a variation of musical styles to bring a sound totally of its own. The stripped down beat and subtle swing of minimal is given a fresh electro sensibility from the distorted chords and cut up vocals. Fused together with the sophistication of house and even a hint of dub, “Berline” is the perfect way for Farah to introduce himself to the rest of the world. Civil have also thrown up a rather tasty remix package too with a deep and stylish rework from Dirty Bird’s Christian Martin, a wonky minimal remix from Clara Moto and the furturistic stylings of Funkineven’s acid remix. A living embodiment of the internet generation of producers, there seems to be no limit of what this young producer is capable of. All we know is that we’re going to have a lot of fun finding out! ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Get you tickets in advance to avoid losing out. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Entail Records - Make Music Happen
