  • SYNTHESIS returns with another night of top-shelf underground music. This month we invited the Seattle members of Label Peloton Musique to Join us: Nora Posch, Phaedrus and Duncan idaho. Peloton Musique's first output was a biking-themed release, featuring established international producers (most with Northwest ties) such as Markus Nikolai, Jeff Samuel, [a]pendics.shuffle as K.J. Gibbs, Lusine, Let's Go Outside, Jerry Abstract as Ian Ginsing, and Decibel Fest's Sean Horton as Incite!. The label released a sample pack of biking sounds (air-pump blasts, brake compresses, sprocket clicks), asking producers to use them in the creation of a biking-themed track. The 65 eventual submissions were then pared down to the 21 for physical release. Vinyl and Digital.** http://www.beatport.com/release/bicycles-are-your-friends/275378 http://www.beatport.com/release/bicycles-are-your-friends-too/386472 Their release, the TAKING FLIGHT EP, included an original by Stewart Walker with remixes by Lusine, Jon McMillion, Hanssen of Jacob London, The Sight Below, Sean Horton as Nordic Soul, and Ctrl Alt Dlt. http://www.beatport.com/release/taking-flight-ep/384394 “We want to create music for environments, for a specific time and place, as sonic theater At the same time, community is one of our guiding principles – we want to be more than the sum of our parts supporting each other in the slipstream as found in the Peloton.” Expect a blurring of genre lines with touches of bass, nu-disco, electro, tech-haus, and of course schranz (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schranz). http://soundcloud.com/pelotonmusique This month on the decks: * NORA POSCH - Seattle (Peloton Musique) http://soundcloud.com/noraposch Peloton A&R Front Man, DJ, Producer, and self-proclaimed dance maniac, Aron Schoppert devoted most of his life to dance music after discovering internet hub Hyperreal in 1994 and was immediately hooked on outdoor rave culture up and down the west coast. For the next 5 years he lived in shared living/event space cooperatives and warehouse(s) and actively threw events. In 1998 he picked up a pair of 1200s and dove into all forms of left field electronic-a (IDM) and soonafter the universal jacking forms techno and house. In 2003 he joined Sean Horton as one of the founding members of Decibel festival and performed Artist Management, Web, and Hospitality for the next 5 years which lead into a wide range of collaboration(s) that helped fuel the start of the Peloton. After an extended break, he has come out of hibernation in 2012 ready to re-ignite the label and be part of the creative wheel that turns us all. * PHAEDRUS - Seattle (Peloton Musique / KRecordings) http://soundcloud.com/dutchtreat Phaedrus is the moniker of Dutch DJ and producer Joris Kamma. His love for electronic music developed in the early nineties, with the rise of house and techno. In particular its raw energy and unorthodox character inspired him to pick up DJ-ing and producing. In the Netherlands, Kamma was a regular guest at underground radio station Tonka and played a wide variety of DJ live sets at various events, performing with the likes of Speedy J, David Tarrida, Zero One and Pounding Grooves to name but a few. In 2010 Joris relocated to Seattle, joining the ranks of Cascadian techno. He is currently involved with local record label Peloton Musique, which releases a wide range of fresh and exciting electronica. He just released the Anno Patris EP on KRecordings. His live sets typically consist of techno with added flavors techhouse, electro and 2-step. As a DJ, he enjoys to dig in deep & quirky territories, a major influence being “Brighton techno,” a term coined from Cristian Vogel’s Brighton-based record label Mosquito. “I’m always looking for that special track that doesn’t sound like anything else” With Resident and Portland Peloton Team Member: * CENTRIKAL (Peloton Musique / Nude Photo Music) http://soundcloud.com/centrikal And a special warm up set by: * DUNCAN IDAHO - Seattle (Peloton Musique) http://dj.beatport.com/dj-duncan-idaho DJ Duncan Idaho travelled through time and space in his no-ship. He arrived just in time to catch the transition of industrial and ‘nu-beat’ to rave music in the late ‘80s. In northern California, he would go see DJs like Garth, Simon, and Carlos. Later, on the east coast DJs like Scott Henry, Dieselboy, and Charles Feelgood. He began contributing more than mad dance skills to the community later in the ‘90s by writing and editing the house music section for now defunct Lotus Magazine. Around the same time, he began to mix music at the expense of his college grades. His focus on cross-pollination of genres, media and culture shows in his selections as a DJ represent a wide variety of sounds. More recently he is the Artistic Director and co-owner of Peloton Musique and has toured Asia with P.A.N. (dance company) as a live electronic musician. ** Paragraph taken from: http://www.thestranger.com/seattle/content?oid=520485
