On Saturday, April 27th, Erratic comes out with a bang and proudly presents one of the most solid line-ups the city has recently seen: Terence Fixmer and Edit Select –two of the most revered stalwarts in modern techno and respective contributors to Speedy J’s Electric Deluxe and Chris Liebing’s CLR labels. This event will take place at NYC’s ‘longest running premier underground house and techno dance club,’ Sullivan Room –located in the heart of the West Village in lower Manhattan. This will be Edit Select’s 2nd appearance in the city ever while Terence Fixmer will be making his - USA debut - on this special night of techno mayhem.
Terence Fixmer, techno legend from France with more than a decade of unparalleled dedication, has become one of CLR’s main-stays whose sound is characterized by as much a classic sonic as by modern minimalism and abstraction. His work is poignant and cerebral, and spans across the most regarded labels in the industry: CLR, Electric Deluxe, Synewave, Music Man Records, and, his own, Planet Rouge. In essence, “he preserves an original style, an increasingly experimental, and simultaneously ruthless, unrelenting, interpretation of modern techno.” As it is customary on Erratic nights, Terence will be performing an extended, late-night hour, hybrid Live/DJ set for all minds to be equally blown.
Edit Select, based out of Glasgow, UK, and owner of his own imprint, Edit Select Records, shares a similar style to techno icon, Speedy J: bass-filled, incessant, straight-up, pounding techno, which fully embraces a “more is less” approach based on repetitive and hypnotic, mind-twisting arrangements. He has been in the scene for over 20 years having started with the acid house movement in the UK during the 90s, and has released on powerhouse techno labels such as Ostgut Ton, Prologue, Stroboscopic Artefacts, and Enemy Records, collaborating extensively with Speedy J for Electric Deluxe. Anyone lucky enough to have witnessed the musical wreckage he unleashed in New York 2 years ago knows this man means business. On this night, we can’t wait for him to do exactly that again and then some.
Opening up the show will be the Erratic residents, Jason T. & LoKKoTRONN, better known as, Dos Lokos, who recently contributed a 2-hour b2b podcast mix for the Chicago-based ‘Don’t Trust Humans’ collective, receiving quite the overnight acclaim (Listen here - http://bit.ly/ZlLajD).
