We're excited to announce that this September will see a true music legend take to the Ibiza Rocks Stage as CHIC ft. Nile Rodgers perform huge hit after hit, live under the Balearic stars.
Nile Rodgers is without doubt one of the most influential producers of all time. Forming the now infamous dance outfit CHIC in the mid 70’s, a string of classic tracks ‘Le Freak,’ ‘I Want Your Love,’ ‘Everybody Dance’ and ‘Good Times’ propelled his disco sound into the limelight, made New York feel like the centre of the world and created an unmistakeable groove that fills dancefloors and still influences dance, pop, hip hop and club culture today.
The revolutionary CHIC sound made Rodgers one of the industries most sought after producers giving him the opportunity to write and craft some of the biggest tracks of the last 30 years from ‘We Are Family’ and ‘He’s The Greatest Dancer’ for Sister Sledge, ‘Upside Down’ and ‘I'm Coming Out’ for Diana Ross to David Bowie's biggest selling album ‘Let's Dance’ and Madonna's blockbuster album ‘Like a Virgin’ to name just a few – Nile Rodgers is without doubt (as his nickname suggests) ‘The Hitmaker’.
Not content to sit back on his huge back catalogue of classic hits from the past fast forward to 2013 and most recently Rodgers has leant his funk magic to android dance kings Daft Punk, giving them their biggest hit to date with No.1 single ‘Get Lucky’ (a tune that already looks like it will soundtrack Rocks summer 2013) and a further two tracks that are still to come from their hotly anticipated album Random Access Memories.
The Ibiza Rocks crowd will certainly get lucky in September as this true dance music pioneer takes centre stage.
Joining Chic and Nile Rodgers on the night is a DJ you may think on the surface would be out of place but trust us Rocks hero Skream has some serious disco credentials. A huge fan of the genre and flying in especially for this show from his US tour tells you just how special this night is going to be!
