Following launch parties for two of last years greatest albums, Actress RIP and Daphni's JIAOLONG, H&P are enormously honoured and thrilled to host the launch of James Holden's highly anticipated 2nd album, The Inheritors.
James has been a hugely influential figure in H&P's existence and his last offering, The Idiots Are Winning changed the electronic music landscape for the better good. To mark the occasion, he'll play all night in the main room of Corsica Studios - which will allow him free reign to delve yet further into his extensive collection of music. Having previously hosted 3 hour sets in the past, which were full of pleasant surprises, we can assure you that this is an opportunity not to be overlooked. The Inheritors, in his own words, 'is not meant to sound like now, but it's not meant to sound like the past either.' With such a spectacle in the main room, we thought that the first installment of our HIGHLIFE party in London would be an interesting contrast. Over the past 3 years in Glasgow, HIGHLIFE has brought a fresh approach to music from around the world. From exploring themes such as Afrofuturism with Actress, Shackleton, Cut Hands and Romare to presenting musical talent from every corner of the world including Mexico's Rebolledo, Nicolas Jaar, Matias Aguayo and Alejandro Paz from Chile, Zanzibar's Mim Suleiman and Indian proto-acid house from Charanjit Singh. It has also been chiefly responsible for the birth of the H&P label and the continual rise of Auntie Flo. The residents on the night will be joined by previous guest, Awesome Tapes From Africa and a special live set from the impressive Heatsick.
H&P usually seeks to offer something different, but it isn't often that we get to exercise most of our musical interests in one night. We hope you're excited as we are!
