Common Ground with Jimpster presented by Monarch

  • Another month has passed and Common Ground has again teamed up with Monarch to bring you another stellar international guest DJ. Our special guest this month is one that the Common Ground crew has sought to bring for several years, and we cannot express how excited we are to announce that JIMPSTER will be gracing our city by the bay Thursday May 2nd. Head honcho of the legendary FREERANGE RECORDS, Jimpster's original productions have left indelible marks on the House music community over the past 20 years and he continues to do so with every track that he touches. He's remixed artists with names like Bob Marley, Seal, Josh Wink, Charles Webster, Switch, and countless others. Our event on May 2nd also marks an extraordinary accomplishment for our headliner. Jimpster is set to release his 5th full length artist album entitled "Porchlight and Rocking Chairs" on Freerange May 20th and our little soiree in Monarch's basement represents a stop on his album release tour. So be sure to check out his album shortly at a music retailer near you and be sure to join us Thursday May 2nd at Monarch. We highly recommend purchasing presales at Ticketfly for this event and they can be purchased here: The folks at Monarch and Common Ground appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you on the dance floor with very special guest JIMPSTER. Hosted by Melisa Galvan: DJs: JIMPSTER (FREERANGE RECORDS) - Album Release Tour for "Porchlight and Rocking Chairs" LEONARD GREG YUEN DINO VELVET JOEY ALANIZ Monarch 101 6th Street at Mission San Francisco, CA 94103 Thursday May 2nd, 2013 9PM - 2AM For table reservations, please call 415-335-6776 or email [email protected] http://freerangerecords.co.uk http://www.facebook.com/jimpster.freerange http://www.facebook.com/commongroundsf http://www.monarchsf.com/ ABOUT JIMPSTER: Jamie Odell aka Jimpster and Audiomontage has been producing, remixing and DJing for the last 20 years and co-running his Freerange Records (voted Best British Label 2007) for the last 15 of those. His musical upbringing and early introduction to production (his first release was on influential UK label Jumpin’ & Pumpin’ in 1990 alongside labelmates Future Sound Of London) and DJing have helped him forge a sound that is both warm and deep as well as being innovative and club friendly. His seminal Jimpster LP Messages From The Hub (1997), as well as his early dancefloor orientated Audiomontage 12”s really helped establish Jamie as an artist of some merit and he quickly became in regular demand as a remixer (over 85 at the last count!) and co-producer on a wide range of underground projects. His third Jimpster LP Amour was released 5 years ago on Freerange to excellent critical acclaim and appeared in numerous published Top 20 LP's of the year charts. In more recent years he has released his first original track for another label, choosing Ben Watt’s Buzzin’ Fly for Square Up which went on to become a big underground house track of the year. His most recent single releases for Freerange include These Times, Change In You and Alsace & Lorraine, another deep house anthem and classic in the making, which received support from many of the best house DJ’s out there, and went on to be remixed by Josh Wink and Ripperton to serious effect. Recent artists to get the Jimpster midas touch in the form of a remix include Josh Wink, Photon Inc, Osunlade, Bob Marley, Joris Voorn, Seal, Marc Romboy, Solomun and Kollektiv Turmstrasse. Over the past 6 or 7 years Jamie has built up a reputation as a highly regarded DJ in the UK and around the world, having played over 100 gigs last year alone. With an emphasis on the deeper end of electronic house, but not afraid to stray from the path, he retains an old school approach that has seen him booked for gigs as diverse as Fabric (London), Panarama Bar and Watergate (Berlin), Cielo (NYC), Warehouse 702 (Tokyo), Zoo Project (Ibiza), D-Edge (Sao Paulo), GOA @ Fabrik (Madrid). This year he won the coveted Danish Deejay Award for Best international DJ set at afterhours club Dunkel as well as winning the Beatport Deep House Producer and Best Deep House Remix of the year in 2010. Jamie is currently working on his fifth studio LP for Freerange scheduled for release later this year.
