  • Auditree & The Bowler Bar present the house and techno name on everyones lips: Nina Kraviz [with special guest Gabby (Sydney)] Nina Kraviz is currently the name on everyone's lips in the house and techno community. Very rarely does a DJ/Producer shoot to stardom so quickly - and when they do, they seldom have the talent to back it up. Nina is the exception to the rule. After spending her childhood in the Siberian city of Irkutsk, Nina moved to Moscow and began producing music in 2008. Her first release 'Voices' was on the Underground Quality imprint in 2009 and around the same time, Nina began making a name for herself as a DJ, spinning in Moscow's bars and clubs. This led to a 2-year stint running a very well known Friday night party at one of the most respected clubs in Russia, Propaganda. Her ‘breakthrough’ hit was on the Rekids label, with 'Pain In The Ass' that had 'I'm Gonna Get You' on the B Side – which Nina still gets asked to play. The gigs started to come thick and fast, and by the end of 2010, Nina could claim to have played the major quality clubs across the globe including Fabric, Space and Panorama Bar each weekend. She mixes a unique raw blend of House, Techno, Acid and rare goodies, much to the punters' delight. 2012 saw the release of her debut self-titled album on the Rekids label and a storming tour across Australia with the Stereosonic Festival. Nina’s 2013 has seen her simple but infectious take on deep house and techno continue, with a splash of controversy added. Website Resident Advisor sent a camera crew to follow Nina’s movements as an insight into the life of a travelling DJ, and she conducted one of the interviews in a bubble bath! It’s certainly sent tongues wagging and fingers tapping on keyboards in the electronic music world, and highlights a frequent double-standard that applies to female DJs. For Nina’s part, she says: “You can't control artists and their creativity. Sexism and all similar bullshit must die. And the first step to it is to let artists be who they are regardless of their gender, skin color, sexual orientation etc..." Industry legend Greg Wilson, weighed into the debate with these wise words: “Nina’s making her own statement, and regardless of whether or not you might agree with her, or even like the music she records and plays, she’s saying something – she’s causing a reaction and sparking debate. I find it refreshing that she often doesn’t do what people expect her to – in an ever more conformist world it’s reassuring to see anyone out there with maverick tendencies.” Auditree and Bowler Bar are proud to welcome Nina Kraviz and her maverick tendencies for her debut Brisbane club show. -------- Special guest: Gabby (Sydney) Our specal guest Gabby’s talents run from singer to producer to DJ to professional dancer, which ably equips her with dancefloor knowledge. She’s been playing for over 8 years in Sydney and has gained some stellar support slots in 2012 and 2013 supporting artists such as Richie Hawtin, Sasha and playing at Future Music Festival and the popular Circoloco party. Her style is predominantly tech-house and techno and as such is a perfect choice to support Nina Kraviz. --------- Sunday May 5 (special early evening party) at Bowler Bar, 388 Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley. Doors open 6pm. Limited Pre-Sale tickets on Moshtix. Earlybirds on sale immediately - $20, more after each allocation is exhausted.
