Fusion Festival began in 1997 near the city of Lärz north of Germany, about 3 hours from Berlin or 2 hours from Hamburg.
Fusion Festival is where all styles of the underground electronic music scene come together. A space people go to free their minds from their every day lives, their jobs, studies and other responsibilities. It is the result of the search for an alternative through music, of the system we are forced to live in. People go to this space to experience a different way of socializing and living, where the reason for socializing is to experience one another, share our love for music and our experiences in life.
The festival lasts 4 to 6 very special days where surrounded by nature you meet very friendly open minded people eager for a good conversation or also maybe just a good laugh.
The Fusion Festival organizers in the spirit of keeping it more underground decided from its beginnings to promote it only between artists and friends and til this day without advertizement it has grown to hosting in the near of 100,000 people per year (as of 2012).
It has hosted many great artists from all around the world all since the beginning joining in the support of an idea to connect people many having similar or interesting frames of mind to learn from each other and interact, learning points of view from different cultures.
The goal of this festival unlike many others in Europe was not purely to make money, because of this it has kept prices far below any other festival in Europe even though there is a high demand of guests. Just last year in December 2011 when tickets where released they where sold out within the first 30 hours, for only 70 Euros a ticket for the whole week.
Once there you find vegetarian food for very reasonable prices near the various stages, a lot of campsite space, there are tents for shows and theater and even one large tent for circus and acrobatic shows. Buses going to a lake at about 15 minutes from the festival space are leaving and returning every half an hour, perfect for when you need to get away from the large amounts of people and loud music for the afternoon on a sunny day.
For a few days a year, this normally abandoned piece of land becomes occupied by a large community of people joining together to thank the world for being alive and enjoy it with their fellow human being! (Lucien Sanchez-Zuber 13.12.2012)
