Too Much 4th Birthday with Mosca

  • It’s been four years since Too Much! first reared it’s ugly, yet somewhat endearing head, into the Melbourne dance music scene. So it’s with mixed emotions that we announce that our fourth birthday will be our second last party ever. But fuck it right? Lets do this the only way we know how, with one of the most exciting producers of the minute supported by Melbourne’s finest. For our second last party/4th birthday we’ve reached out to a Too Much! favourite MOSCA. Mosca could not have survived 30 years ago. His first release in 2010, the Square One EP that kick-started the Night Slugs label, was just a continuation of a long standing love affair with all types of club music, from deep house and techno to rowdy dancehall and early grime. Mosca's refusal to stick to one or two sounds certainly doesn't make life easy - he is a journalist's nightmare as well as a critic's dream - but there are common threads that link his work. His sense of rhythm and groove is perhaps the key, the element that stops that heavy UK bassline from ever weighing too heavily. Even the catchy melodies from Bax and Tilt Shift have a moody edge that mirrors the tracky techno of his Wavey EP or the dark yet soulful house vibes on the Eva Mendes EP. For those who that missed him last time Mosca brings some serious energy to the decks, embracing the diverse influences of his own production and more, pitting Angolan kuduro against 2-step and combining Wu-Tang with slow house – it doesn’t make sense on paper, but on the dance floor it completely does. On supports we have Too Much! regulars Same O, Naise, David Bass, Woz and first timer Simon TK. On stage from 11pm until 7am. Back bar TLS lineup to be announced. Presale tickets are strictly limited and are available from moshtix.com.au, all moshtix outlets and pulseradio.net for $20+BF. Heads up tho, if you arrive before 11pm there's no door charge and between 11 and 12 the door charge is $10.
