The theme for FORWARD 2013 is "balance". As we curated the artists and conceptualized the design, flow and aesthetic for FORWARD, balance informed and inspired every decision. To that end people will be greeted by artists they've heard of and ones they undoubtedly haven't. We will feature sounds and styles from yesteryear as well as some of the most innovative artists in the world today. Unlike previous years where we featured specific sounds from a subset of electronic music, each night of FORWARD will feature various musical stylings ensuring folks will be introduced to new sounds while providing something for everyone, every night.
We are also making a deliberate effort to focus more resources on insuring a greater, more enhanced event atmosphere including: Custom sound systems, designed specifically for each room; Various interactive installation, engulfing lights and state of the art projections.
FORWARD is proud to once again include as presenting partners for this years festival U Street Music Hall and 18th st. Lounge.
FORWARD will continue its tradition of presenting valuable workshops, panel discussions and interviews to further the dialogue and advancement of electronic creative culture. Finally, FORWARD is happy to announce a new endeavor this year, a partnership with Urban Artistry that explores electronic music and dance. Presented at Gallaudet's Elstad Auditorium on Friday May 17th, set to the music of: Rob Smith, Krust, Noah Pred and Sam Burns dancers from around the world will present 4 original bodies of work accompanied by projected visuals.
Our commitment to a 5 day celebration of electronic creative culture has never been stronger, our vision never as bold, our execution never as deliberate. We look forward to experiencing this with you be it in a workshop, a theater, around an installation or on the dance floor.
