  • FUTRA PRESENTS… Objekt (Hessle Audio) Berlin Objekt is TJ Hertz's adventures in machine music built to make subs rattle and feet wiggle; a convoluted mess of elektrology and teknology, 3-step, bass-core, post windmill, proto-minimal wankstep, gondola, shithouse, acid wonk, no more, no less. What began as two unassuming whitelabels at the start of 2011 has led to a bewildering, pan-genre spaceship ride through international acclaim from artists as diverse as Aphex Twin, Surgeon, Francois K, 2562, Blawan and god knows how many more; remixes for Radiohead and SBTRKT; mixes and podcasts for all the usual suspects; a release on London's inimitable Hessle Audio imprint and dozens of performances all over the world. But while his releases – twisted and irreverent sure but, let's face it, ultimately still bass-fueled dancefloor bangers – have been busy bruising soundsystems and finding their way onto most end-of-year lists in electronic music, his DJ sets betray a much broader gamut of influences than his productions might suggest. From gurgling industrial weirdery through to both very classic and very experimental techno, racy 90s and 00s electro, IDM and more, his recorded mixes demonstrate this admirably, gliding seamlessly through artists as diverse as Jeff Mills, Alva Noto, DJ Stingray, Alex Cortex, DVS1, Emptyset and Alec Empire... all the while keeping a watchful eye on the dancefloor but unafraid to test the allegience of the dancers. TJ Hertz was born in Toyko, raised in the UK and currently lives in Berlin, where he works as a DSP developer for Native Instruments. Raíz (Droid Behavior) LA Los Angeles born and bred, Vangelis and Vidal Vargas were raised in the ’80s on a steady diet of Latin freestyle, electro, and new wave that pervaded their urban environment. Their father also exposed them to cutting edge progressive acts Vangelis, Tangerine Dream and Kraftwerk, planting early seeds for aural exploration. By the mid ’90s they were sampling LA’s underground club scene and heavily researching electronic music’s roots. After years of influence they began to express their musical vision through their own recordings and performances. Vidal and Vangelis eventually found common ground with producer / performer Drumcell, and in 2002 they formed the Droid Behavior event production group and record label out of frustration with the city’s lack of knowledge, acceptance, and understanding for Midwest-bred techno and house music and their European counterparts. As producers Vangelis and Vidal have released and licensed original music and remixes under various aliases (most notably Acid Circus and Raíz) on the Droid Recordings imprint as well as respected labels Historia y Violencia, Tora Tora Tora, DJMag, Music Man, Resident Advisor, Enemy Rec, Gynoid, Reloading, Micro.Fon and Timefog. Their music has been charted, played and supported by Speedy J, Chris Liebing, Marcel Dettmann, Ben Klock, DVS1, Levon Vincent, Jonas Kopp, and more. Raíz fully harness the capabilities of Traktor, Ableton, and Maschine technology to create a thick blend of Detroit influenced techno and gritty house. They take cues from years of classical training to infuse dynamic musical expression with a delicate balance of mixing board acrobatics and symbiotic intuition. Years of production experience inform their Live PA / Digital DJ hybrid approach, which uses each track’s core essentials to form a narrative arch for every unique set. Their releases follow suit, taking only key elements from each rhythmic style to shape simplistic and deep music that captures their diverse influences and personal impressions. Knyphy (Futra) LA A North Carolina native who now calls Los Angeles home, Knyphy has been flexing a broad variety of sounds as a DJ since 1997. An original member of the SMOG crew, he has played from coast to coast in clubs and hosted several internet radio shows. His style pushes the boundaries of underground house, dubstep, grime, garage, and anything else that fits the moment. D:Tales (In:volve) LA Danny Astle is a young and talented DJ / Producer, born and raised in Whittier, CA. With such a late start as 2008, and only reaching out to the techno scene since 2011, D:Tales has made a highly recognized push forward in Los Angeles with a promotion team known as "In:volve" founded with childhood friend Billy Garcia (aka Suerte), as well as landed on the roster for Hidden Measure (SF), and Plettro Records (ITALY). D:Tales & the rest of In:volve all share one common goal; To expand the underground scene, & carry on the original traditions of a beautiful culture. Simply here to keep a foundation intact, and entertain the current public where they reside. LIVE SCREEN PRINTING BY TOTM STUDIO LOS GLOBOS 3040 W.
