Whatever Goes Presents: Slow Hands \ NYC \ Wolf + Lamb, Double Standard
One of the main proponents of the current slow-mo and sultry house revolution, Slow Hands aka Ryan Cavanagh is an organic specialist. His rich yet languid style bares all the hallmarks of the classical and compositional training he has had, whilst everything from jazz to blues to trippy electronica inform the New Yorker's well honed production palette.
Slow Hands is about emotion, about warmth, about creative freedom. He makes deep house music to dim the lights to. His tracks are sultry, laid-back affairs, with atmospheres as balmy as midsummer rooftop parties. Behind the decks, he keeps it deep and weird, bumping through subtle but epic sets that have made him a favorite at Wolf + Lamb, the dark and soulful Brooklyn label.
He keeps busy with a number of different side projects, like Male Madame with friend Nick Dalagelis (One of Them) on Fade Records, and alongside friend John Paul Jones (Tom Croose) as Worst Friends, his spastic experimental group on Moodgadget. But Slow Hands shows Cavanagh doing what he does best: working with sexy rhythms that take their time, letting the groove unfurl with ease.
