  • ***For those that missed out - we've decided to leave 200 tickets on the door this year to get the party started a bit earlier. Not long to go now! __________________________________________________ Flux Day & Night Terrace Party at The Beaver Works 9 headliners / 5 music rooms / 14 hours Wednesday 29th May After such a prolonged Winter, Summer is going to feel all the sweeter. The days are lengthening, the sun has returned, and there is only the small matter of exams standing between us and three months of misbehaviour. As the curtain raiser for all of it, we are very excited to announce our annual Summer Terrace Party, which will take place on 29th May at The Beaver Works. Hosting the Terrace will be the boys from one of the UK's most innovative labels, Wolf Music, with Session Victim's infamous live act, Wolf DJs, and Tief's main man, Hesseltime heading up proceedings. Inside we will welcome house legend Ian Pooley and Suol party starters Trickski. Support will come from LFM & Mali from Seedysonics in Birmingham. In the basement, the genius innovator Legowelt will be headlining with his live set and the rising star Hans Berg, along with his label owner Arthur Barr and support from Nottingham’s 808 DJs. In the bar, we welcome Shapes from Bristol to host, with Soulwork DJs on headlining duties. Since his first productions in the early nineties - inspired variously by Detroit and Chicago pioneers including UR, Blake Baxter and Mr. Fingers - there have been tens of singles, EPs and remixes for the likes of Bunker, Clone, Creme, L.I.E.S. and Ghostly. Perenially fascinated by old and battered noise-making machines, his genre output is defined by analogue textures and classic values as well as an ever roaming sense of sonic investigation that veers from electroclash to techno via freaky deepness and old school acid. We look forward to welcoming him to Leeds and seeing him give his hardware a workout in the basement. Hamburg boys Hauke Freer and Matthias Reiling, aka Session Victim, have been repping it for Retreat and Delusions of Grandeur for years, and are renowned for unleashing the whole package of house, disco & soul power. Catch them on the one's and two's and you will find a devoted pair of vinyl DJ’s playing it from the heart with every record and we can't to catch their blood, sweat and no tears live set. Hauke & Matthias don't care about the boundaries of house music, taking it from disco to soul to hiphop and back, stamping love on every groove and leaving a smile on everyone’s faces. We look forward to welcoming them back to Leeds. Hailing from Mainz, near Frankfurt, Germany, Ian Pooley has been blending techno sounds typical of some German clubs with the funky and sublime sounds imported from America, to great affects. Pooley bridges the gap between techno and house, creating superb tracks such as the massive 'Celtic Cross' and 'Chord Memory' on the Force Inc. Music Works, as well as recording more housier and disco orientated workouts for labels such as John Acquaviva's Definitive Recordings, Effective Records and NRK Sound Division. Ian has also remixed for Daft Punk, Cardigans, The, Beloved, The, Green Velvet, Modjo, Nick Holder and many more. Yannick Labbé and Daniel Becker together make up Trickski.they first joined forces 2005, even though all members had known each other long before. all of them are from freiburg, the wonderfully warm black forest region of Germany. it was there where they got infected with club music at rainer trüby's monthly "root down" joint. Yannick and Daniel quickly moved forward towards rougher house and techno sounds. One can hear this evolution in Trickski's first releases. While "Hormony" kicked off the black label series on Compost Records as a track for the nujazz and the cosmic crowd, "Sweat" released on Sonar Kollektiv, was already heading more into the house and techno field. Carl Craig, their long time idol, selected "Sweat" for his Fabric 25 compilation and turned it into asmall underground hit. Trickski see music in a broad context and move between deep and more jacking house to techno and more rocking disco and cosmic tunes. Expect surprises and sweat all over! Sweden's Hans Berg’s productions are truly unique. His inspiration derives from a wide spectrum of alternative music. Form drumming in punk bands and experimenting with synthesizers in his youth, to going raving and producing his own techno tracks in the years that followed. His collaborations with Swedish video artist Nathalie Djurberg has led them to show their work around the world in well known museums and art spaces, most notably the Venice Biennale 2009, where Hans made an experimental six channel surround system soundtrack for their installation, for which they received the prestigious Silver Lion Award. With more than a decade of music production under his belt, a recent solo EP 'Machines' on UK based label Fullbarr, and an exquisite live show, Hans is ready to make his presence felt. Deeply rooted in House, Disco & Soul, Wolf music have forged an identity for themselves as one of the hottest labels to keep your eye on. Expect paw to the floor and plenty of underground disco bullets from the Matt and Stu, representing the Wolf pack.
