Rising at a dizzying speed to sit at the forefront of Sydney’s bass-bound frontier, Astral People will finally make a break for Vivid LIVE with the long-awaited return of ‘the J Dilla of house music’, Detroit’s acid-house- techno mastermind Omar S. Perhaps one of the most enigmatic figures to emerge from the genre’s hallowed motherland with only three albums in a decade, Omar’s famed minimal motown sound veers from ‘raw and anthemic’ to ‘jacking machine music’, proving an untouchable strike rate alongside his very own FXHE label, home to low-end legends such as OB Ignitt and Luke Hess. Performing a special extended set straight from the Motor City heartland, Omar will be joined by the Warp-championed, chameleon-like club heroes Africa Hitech as well as the electro-funk workouts of British drum ‘n’ bass innovator Jon Convex – a long term torchbearer of a self-described EPM (electronic party music) since his ten-year collaboration with Boddika in Instra:mental. Proving to be influential tastemakers in bringing a new Sydney-bound movement to the international stage, Astral People present the return of Seekae’s Hensen to Vivid LIVE with his hard-hitting, DJ Oneman-endorsed duo Cliques, the critically acclaimed Dro Carey ahead of his debut album, the Jimmy Edgar-affiliated Alba, recent RVNG Intl signees Gardland and Cassius Select, the techno-centric project of Canadian-born Sydney producer Lavurn Lee (Guerre).
