Weaving together heart-pounding electronic bass, bittersweet gospel melodies and the timeless craft of folk songwriting greats, British-born prodigy James Blake makes his Opera House debut in a watershed performance set to guide audiences through his Mercury Prize-nominated debut, the 'Retrograde'-led lovelorn ballads of Overgrown, and the breakthrough moment that began it all - his haunting stripped back impression of Feist's 'Limit To Your Love'.
Since revealing his jazz-like sensitivity as a pianist and signature falsetto in the league of Radiohead's Thom Yorke, Sigur Rós and recent collaborator Bon Iver, Blake has shot to the forefront of a boundary-pushing approach to live electronica alongside fellow London trio The xx. Creating an onstage concoction of neo soul keyboards, looping harmonies, live drums and atmospheric guitar into a euphoric whole, Blake has quickly proven his genre-bending prowess with audiences and artists alike – garnering acclaim from Kanye West and Joni Mitchell whilst working with the likes of electronic godfather Brian Eno and hip hop legend RZA (Wu Tang-Clan).
Now set to bring his transcendent mix of spacious songwriting, melancholic bass and head rush beats to a fittingly expansive Concert Hall setting, James Blake will reaffirm his meteoric rise to become a sonic auteur of gripping emotional highs with a room-throttling low-end to match.
