The original receipt at the foot of the Eiffel tower with an ethnological touch. In partnership with the Musée du quai Branly, one of the most important museums in the world dedicated to non-occidental culture, our parisian project proposes to musicians an exceptional access to the museum’s audio collection. The carefully selected musicians will thus be invited to sample a set of resources of an unsuspected wealth then to replay it during an ultimate free and open-air public event.

Straight outta Switzerland, Sinner DC are being touted around as a 'next big thing' within the world of electronica. Jostling for space somewhere between Sigur Ros and the soon to return Board Of Canada, it’s the kind of music that combines shreds of indie pop to thick, layered walls of synths, moody soundscapes and meandering grooves. Let’s be honest, they’re far from the first to purvey this sound, but they certainly are among the most talented.

Pierre Bastien est un personnage aussi discret qu’il est une personnalité incontournable des musiques nouvelles. Pierre Bastien est en effet un musicien dont les instruments sont peu conventionnels : ses concerts s'organisent autour d'un ensemble de machines, orchestre domestique fait de dizaines de robots en Meccano, joueurs d’instruments de musique ou d’objets usuels. Pour ce concert, Pierre Bastien sélectionnera dans la collection du Musée du quai Branly des extraits de musiques africaines essentiellement que lui et son orchestre Mecanium accompagneront. Une partie de la collection personnelle d'instruments de musique anciens de Pierre Bastien sera exceptionnellement utilisée à cette occasion.
Pierre Bastien's Mecanium is a self-built group of creations which are activated by electro-motors to play acoustic instruments collected from all over the world. Much of his music is made from this Mecanium orchestra and then features a fairly heavy usage of clanking, whirring and jangling, at times sounding like the work of some sort of gamelan made out of assorted contraptions found in Professor Frink's laboratory. Electro and acoustic sounds manifest in the Frenchman's uniquely endearing soundworld, one informed by old jazz and traditional world musics and his background as a professional bass player yet evidently in thrall to the possible tones, timbres and effects afforded by machines. Pierre Bastien is proving that you can be experimental without immediately sacrificing the listener at the alter of indulgant-bollockius.
