Machine Rituals with Martyn & Randomer

  • Machine Rituals is a new joint venture between formerly Glasgow based promoters Men & Machines, Odd Rituals and pals. Our aim is simple - to bring you together with some of the most compelling and exciting producers and djs on the planet. Our first night sees us take over the intimate basement of new Dalston hot-spot Dance Tunnel, where we'll be joined by both Martyn and Randomer. It's not often you get the chance to see Martyn in such an intimate setting, so to say we're excited is a bit of a understatement. Limited advance tickets, the rest on the door. Martyn (3024/Ostgut Ton/) Following several years as a drum’n'bass producer, Martyn emerged as one of the first and most interesting artists to make the links between UK bass music and Berlin/Detroit techno, releasing singles on Apple Pips (‘Suburbia’), Hyperdub (‘Mega Drive Generation’), Hessle Audio (his remix of TRG’s ‘Broken Heart’) as well as his own 3024 imprint. He cemented this reputation with his highly acclaimed 2009 debut album, Great Lengths, and was subsequently asked to mix the fiftieth instalment in the fabric series. In 2011 he released his long awaited second LP, Ghost People, on Flying Lotus' Brainfeeder label, and also recorded his own RA mix, as well as further releases for labels including Ostgut Ton and Modeselektors’ Monkeytown Records. In April he released the excellent Newspeak EP on Steffi’s new Dolly Dubs label, with A side Oceania harking back to earlier releases, while on the flipside 'Newspeak' and 'What Is Room 101' fuse breakbeats with a slicker string heavy Detroit house sound. Randomer (Hessle Audio / Numbers / Hemlock) In a short time, North Londoner Randomer has built up a small but heavy hitting catalogue of work on some of the most influential labels of recent times, including Hessle Audio, Numbers and Hemlock Recordings. Taking in influences from house, techno, garage, dubstep and jungle, his records showcase his inspiring drum programming and raw sound. http://soundcloud.com/randomer/tracks He’s also a rather fine DJ, touring extensively and mixing one of FACT’s mixes of 2012. Men & Machines Men and Machines are DJs, radio hosts and promoters originally hailing from Glasgow, where they hosted a weekly radio show for over 5 years on Subcity Radio, and a monthly residency at Stereo for over three years, which welcomed the likes of Manuel Gottsching, Brandt Brauer Frick, Etienne Jaumet, Efdemin, Erdbeerschnitzel and Pantha Du Prince. Since relocating to London they’ve made guest appearances at for Huntleys and Palmers and ReviveHer, and started a new series of podcasts for Radio Magnetic “One of the most forward thinking nights in Glasgow” (The Skinny)
