The Calvert Journal is bringing you Calvert Studio - a series of top-notch music events with carefully selected artists from Russia and the UK.
The launch party will take over a premier venue in Shoreditch - a perfect setting to experience some of the finest sounds from both countries, spanning the horizons from minimal techno to quirky glitch and electro. We are thrilled to announce that Mujuice will headline our inaugural night, with some excellent support from Boiler Room.
Considered one of the cornerstones of today’s Russian electronic music, Mujuice splices together pieces of found sounds, electronic glitches and layers of acoustic material to create a dense matrix of melodies and ambiances that owe a debt to jazz, techno and Shostakovich in equal measure. In the last 5 years Mujuice participated in the Red Bull Music Academy and performed at first-class international festivals - including SONAR, Waves Vienna, SXSW, MIDEM and Transmusicales. This will be his first live performance in the UK.
We complete the night's line up billing with Nic Tasker from Boiler Room and some of the most inspiring artists from Russia.
The visuals will be provided by Nat Urazmetova, a London-based visual artist, communicator and media creator. Nat's practice includes video and photography, live audio-visual performance and writing. Most recently, Nat worked with SOME/THINGS Agency, participated in Garage Art Experiment, and is now collaborating with an electronic musician and producer Ulrich Schnauss.
