They say that music can soothe even the savage beast, and so, for the final May edition of Housepitality, we're bringing a wild beast raised in the sweaty, dusty wilds of southern California... but not just any beast... this one can sing, he can produce music, and can, in fact, DJ: Big Bully. Big Bully is a production and vocalist powerhouse currently, with productions and guest vocal appearances coming out on such labels of the moment as Get Physical, Thema, Circus Company, Culprit, Spectral Sound, and many others. He's another example of an artist that not too many non-DJ types might have heard of, and yet you've certainly heard his music, and heard his voice; trust us, this will be good. This guy's no joke. And from what we hear, he might actually be a pretty nice guy, despite his name.
Playing immediately before Big Bully is our resident musical stylist Matt Richardson, making another overdue appearance. From Matt, expect deep, Berlin-centric house on the trippier, deeper tip, always keeping a steady groove, and yet slightly out of this world. If you've missed Matt, you've missed a treat, so come by and watch him take us from 9pm until it's time for the headliner... a long opening set is just the perfect way to experience Matt. He's truly great, and an amazing guy to boot.
Opening up, DJ Leif aka Leif Engberg will be making a comeback appearance on the decks, after a long absence. He's no slouch or newb, having DJed extensively in a now-defunct NYC-based collective that you may not be cool enough to have heard of...

Big Bully
Born in the middle of some back country shitbox desert town on route 66 between LA and Vegas, Dawson Baca aka Big Bully emerged from his mothers sacred hole and launched immediately into a music career by time he was under 30 minutes old. Over the years, Big Bully has fine tuned his vocal & production pitches, crossing lines of techno and house.
Anyway, Dawson has releases on Get Pnysical w/Fuckpony and Samim, Vakant w/Dinky, Circus Company w/Samim, Culprit and Simple w/Adultnapper as well as Tuning Spork, Tic Tac Toe, Mo's Ferry Prod. and Kindisch. The guy is a fucking workhorse.

Paul Carey
An avid record collector for almost 20 years, Paul Carey got his first taste of house music in the early underground house scene of Northern California circa 1993: A heady mix of full-moon parties, beach parties, dirty warehouses, laid-back clubs, and crazy house parties coupled with psychedelic, funky, deep house. In 2000, Paul started managing the infamous Tweekin Records and was also one of the stores buyers. Pauls talent and musical depth of field make him a standout DJ. He brings a fresh and innovative approach to the music, which assures him longevity in this highly competitive and progressive music industry. Paul has become a well-established artist in the San Francisco underground music scene. He plays cutting edge music , with one eye firmly fixed on the dancefloor at all times. His influences include: SFs legendary Wicked crew (Jeno, Garth & Markie Mark), Mark Farina, DJ Harvey ,Doc Martin, the DIY crew (UK) , DJ Buck. Pauls shared the decks with such internationally acclaimed DJs as Mark Farina ,Diz , Joshua (IZ) , Luke Soloman, Derrick Carter , Miguel Migs, Jeno, Doc Martin, DJ Harvey , Dan Ghenacia , Z-Trip, Peanut Butter Wolf, etc. Paul has played at every major venue and multiple underground parties in San Francisco. 1015 , Monarch , 222 , Ruby Skye , The End Up ,and The Top are just a few of the clubs in San Francisco. Aside from playing all over San Francisco, he also played out of town as well. London , Mexico (Tulum & Playa Del Carmen) , Hawaii , New York , Philly , L.A. & San Diego just to name a few.
