La Sierra Electrónica - Festival Cancelled
The poor ticket sales make the project non-available and force cancellation
That the economic crisis affects culture and events in Spain is a fact, and it is clear that music industry also takes its toll, especially any new project. While this week there were rumors about cancellation of other festivals, now, four days before the first edition of La Sierra Electronica, we are forced to cancel it due to the insufficient advance ticket sales. A total of 1,800 tickets sold in advance is the figure, making the implementation of this new festival impossible as to sales needed to develop the project. Much of the magic of a festival like this is the warmth generated by the audience itself, and in the location of this festival, with two stages sized for a total of 10,000 people, there were just over 2,000 people possibly attending, who couldn’t enjoy something as basic as the festive atmosphere typical of an electronic music festival.
Thus, wanting not to disappoint either public or artists, we are forced to make the hard decision to cancel the festival. That leaves parked, at least this year, a new festival that was presented last May 16 in Madrid, and in which we have put many hours of work and dedication, but which hasn’t matched the sales forecast established so that it can be carried out successfully.
From Doctor Music we want to thank all the DJ's, agents, managers, production staff and everyone that has been working to provide a new event with a view on the future in the Community of Madrid. We also want to thank the unconditional support of the City of Collado Villalba, media partners and all the fans who had already bought their tickets to live the first edition of the festival.
Despite this cancellation, in Doctor Music we keep betting on live music and will try to find the formula to bring the first edition of La Sierra Electronica back on Summer 2014, while planning new proposals to share with you all.
For those who had already bought their tickets, thank you again for trusting us and know that tickets will be refund from the same outlets where they were purchased. Refund of tickets bought online will be done automatically.
