FIT Distro and the FIT Sound label are two shining examples of the attitude toward music that makes Detroit and it’s DJs so respected among music people worldwide. The company was started in 2008 as a distribution company by run entirely by Aaron Seigel (who also DJs under the name FIT). At the time, there was a huge batch of new producers needing to get their records pressed and out to shops without the means to do so. He started getting labels like FXHE, Wild Oats, KDJ, and Sound Signature out to the world. Now, the roster includes underground imprints from around the world, including Discovery Recordings.
Siegel spends his free time in the studio, working on extremely varied and always amazing music. Tonite, his collaboration with Omar S and vocalist L’Renee is a staple at our parties and a true classic.
Since 2010, the FIT Sound label has been releasing new productions and reissuing rare recordings that didn’t get the exposure they deserved the first time around. The label’s first record came from fellow Detroiter Marcellus Pittman, who will also be joining us also to headline the night!
Marcellus is one of Detroit’s best. Whenever we get to see him play, those strange outsider funk tracks that somehow fit perfectly grab the party and make it shake it. No matter what room he’s playing in, it’s always going to be weird in the funnest way. Like his partners in the 3 Chairs Project, Moodymann, Rick Wilhite, and Theo Parrish, he’s part of a huge surge of creativity from the Motor City that has earned worldwide success. We can’t wait to hear him and Aaron lay down the FIT sound on that crisp new Danley sound system under the shifting lights at Glasslands.
