3Destruct is a multimedia installation by Yannick Jacquet, Jeremie Peeters & Thomas Vaquié [ANTIVJ]. Existing somewhere between a light sculpture, a performance, and an immersive and interactive sensory experience, 3Destruct is a living, working experiment in spatial construction through sight and sound.

DADUB + GRÜN present ILYA Machine 001
Berlin Atonal have commissioned Daniele Antezza and Giovanni Conti (Dadub) and Daniele de Santis (Grün) to turn the basement of the powerplant into a fully immersive site specific sound installation. Their installation will employ two identical devices, made by a pair of electro-mechanical membranes. One of the membranes works as input while the other works as output, creating an open feedback loop that interacts with the room, translating the space into a flow of modulated acoustic energy.

DAVID LETELLIER presents 3 Machines Oscillantes
Specially created for Berlin Atonal and Kraftwerk, 3 Machines Oscillantes is a kinetic sound installation which uses the unpredictable oscillations of three pendulums to produce a random composition of impacts and noises and relies on the natural reverberation of the space as acoustic chamber.

GRISCHA LICHTENBERGER presents 3 Steel Plates, Scanner & Sound
Two flatbed scanners continuously scope the surface of three steel-plates. Flipped upside down and supplied with less current, the movements of their sensors cause sound to resonate from the plates. These acoustical signals are captured by a condensing microphone (for the resonating steel-plates) and a contact microphone (for the high-frequency tone). The sound is then processed through a computer and sent to a double stereo output.

JON HASSELL & KARL LIPPEGAUS: Conversation Piece
Lippegaus engages Hassell in a lively and wide ranging multi-media conversation.
Philosophy, jazz, magic realism, geo-politics, and technology. Just some of the themes to be touched on by Hassell and Lippegaus as they move effortlessly around Hassell’s world and unpack themes from his recent book “The North and South of You”. Hassell and Lippegaus use live recording and projection to animate their conversation piece and bring their ideas to life.

Alongside his longtime collaborator Brian Eno, he is one of the most influential figures in the history of experimental electronic music. Less well known than Miles Davis, his virtuosity and experimentation on the trumpet have nonetheless produced favourable comparisons between the two. His unmistakable musical aesthetic (dubbed ‘Fourth World’), as well as his commitment to deep thinking in all its forms, make him one of Berlin Atonal 2013’s most interesting international guests. Karl Lippegaus is a well-known music journalist - author of "Stille im Kopf" and "John Coltrane: Ein Heiliger des Jazz" and winner of the prestigious Deutsche-Französischen-Preis for Journalism.
Conversation Piece takes place in English at the Kraftwerk Schaltraum at 1700 on Saturday 27.07. Registration not required.

Berlin Atonal 2013's Saturday night concert promises to be an immersive audio/visual experience - enlightening, enlarging and exploring the singular venue using sound and light through four specially devised performances.
DADUB will follow longtime collaborator GRÜN in opening Berlin Atonal 2013's third nightly concert with their characteristic version of shamanic electronica, bringing it to life on the main stage with video accompaniment and sound essays which make full use of Atonal's specially installed soundsystem. Then Italian duo VOICES FROM THE LAKE will present their celebrated live show - which makes heavy use of analog hardware - for a special performance perfected for Atonal and its unique setting. Mexican legend MURCOF will then team up with renowned video/projection artist SIMON GEILFUS for a multi-screen, multi-projector, multi-sensory live show.
