  • Every so often, the club-scene of every city reaches a point of saturation and staleness, where every night seems the same as all the others, and very little evokes the kind of excitement and passion so synonymous with the dance music industry over the years, as we sit and wait for something new and exciting to comes along and revitalise us all... Over the past 12 months or so, Bristol itself has perhaps reached that very point, with almost every poster you see featuring the same DJ’s, playing the same music, at the same venues, and forcing the city’s clubbing fraternity to look further afield, or to alternative events, in a desperate search to find something just that little bit different... Never before has Bristol been such in dire need of something & somewhere new; an event that capitalises on the recent resurgence of the dance music scene, lead by the breakthrough of a wealth of fantastic new artists, and incredible production talent, that has resulted in house music now being at its strongest, for a number of years... The emergence of original sounds such as nu-disco, coupled with the reincarnation of timeless favourites such as deep house and US garage, the kind of which has not been heard since way back in the mid-nineties, has not only caught the imagination of a new generation of clubber, but has stirred the souls of many original ravers, bringing them both out in their droves, where they meet on the dancefloor, much the same as they did in the name of one love, so many years ago... With an ever growing love for house music that has resulted in the huge success of dance music festivals and large scale events, now is the time for a new club-night aimed designed specifically for the true followers of house music, and featuring the very best new acts, in an intimate surrounding... ON SATURDAY 10TH AUGUST 2013, TOMORROW BECOMES TODAY, WITH THE LAUNCH OF A BRAND NEW EVENT AIMED AT BRING THE EXCITEMENT BACK TO BRISTOL’S NIGHTLIFE, FEATURING THE HOTTEST DJ’ing & PRODUCTION TALENT FROM ACROSS THE GLOBE, AND GIVING THE CITY’S GENUINE CLUBBERS THE CHANCE TO LOOK FORWARD TO SOMETHING & SOMEWHERE DIFFERENT, WHERE THEY DON’T GO WEEK IN, WEEK OUT... MANANA Manana is a new concept from those being some of the city’s longest standing and most respected club nights, including The Funk Boat, EQ, Prominence and Revolution... Manana will take place at one of Bristol’s newest, and most exciting new venues, The Exchange, ideally located at the very bottom of Old Market, on the former site of Castros. The venue has been fully refurbished, has capacity for up to 500 guests, and features two rooms, both boasting a top of the range sound-system and lighting rig, making it the perfect medium sized venue to host top guests for an up-close-and-personal type gig... AND WHAT A GUEST WE HAVE FOR OUR VERY FIRST EVENT... LITERALLY ONCE OF THE MOST TALENT PRODUCTION ARTISTS AND DJ’S IN THE SCENE TODAY... THE MAN BEHIND ARGUABLY ONE OF THE GREATEST DANCE MUSIC RECORDS TO HAVE EVER BEEN MADE... FLYING IN FROM GERMANY TO MAKE HIS BRISTOL DEBUT... AND 100% GUARNTEED TO KICK THINGS OFF WITH AN UNFORGETTABLE SHOWCASE PERFORMANCE... LADIES & GENTLEMEN, WE GIVE YOU... LOVEBIRDS Winding Road . Buzzing Fly . Freerange BIOGRAPHY Lovebirds is the solo project of Sebastian Doering, and could be describes as a blast from the past, packing house steroids and serious production muscle. Listening to Lovebirds is like taking trip back to the 70s and 80s, whilst riding the crest of gleaming futuristic wave. Although ‘Lovebirds’ only became a name that has been on everyone’s lips within the last few years or so, ‘Basti’ is no newcomer to the production game. Formerly one half of the highly respect production duo ‘Kneedeep’, together with old friend Toddie Freese, the pair became a household name in the dance scene during the first 5 years of the 21st century, with acclaimed remixes for mammoth artists such as Jamiroquai, Bob Sinclair, David Morales, and Brandy, amongst many others, even winning the prestigious “best remixer” award at the 2002 German Dance Awards (beating the legend himself, Timo Maas, in doing so). That same year, their incredible latino house rework “Nassau Rules” was voted track of the year in DJ magazine. After a few years, Basti felt he had achieved all he wanted to with Kneedeep, and felt it was time to evolve his sound into deeper, more melancholy musical avenues… And so Lovebirds was born, which is now forms main project. His production experience means has enabled him to build an eclectic repertoire of productions that range from classy dancefloor sounds, to more mellow, downbeat melodies, but all destined to wow the world. The first Lovebirds release appeared on Trax of Interest way back in 2000. Back then, it was only a side project for releasing a deeper sound than that of his main project as part of Kneedeep. In 2006, having built up a back catalogue of unsigned material, Basti sent a demo CD to John Buckby, label owner of Winding Road Records, and mutual friend of Vincenzo… Needless to say, John was immediately hooked… The first Lovebirds single on Winding Road was the ‘Modern Stalking’ EP, which came out in 2007. The EP contained tracks of mid-tempo house, each one coming from a different musical angle, and giving the world a taste of what Basti was capable of. It was received by the deep house and neo-disco community, with open arms and unanimous acclaim. Top-flight DJ’s such as Prins Thomas, Ashley Beedle and Jimpster went wild for it... Bill Brewster made the EP his Single Of The Month in iDJ magazine… It was fair to say that ‘Lovebirds’ had landed. Since then, Lovebirds has responsible for a huge number of massive club hits, including deep house “M.U.S.I.C.”, the modern progressive classic “In The Shadows”, or dancefloor bomb that is “The Rat”… However, Lovebird is perhaps best known for his 2011 deephouse / soul anthem crossover masterpiece “Want You In My Soul” featuring Stee Downes, which has achieved more than 1 million views on Youtube, was the best selling single on traxsource.com in 2011, and remains a track that is still played on dancefloors, week in, week out, everywhere across the globe, for which very reason it is widely regarded to be amongst the best dance music singles to have ever been made… The cream of the dance world has its eyes on Lovebirds, who counts the likes of Tom Middleton, Jimpster, and Ben Watt amongst his biggest fans. Having already completed collaborations with artists including Ben Westbeech, Holly Backler, and Lisa Shaw, amongst others, he is currently working on his first full length album for Defected, due for release in 2013. If you’ve been hiding in a dark room for past 7 years, and don’t know what to expect, check out these licks to some of his mixes, which we can truly say are amongst the finest you will hear from any artist, anywhere on the planet… http://soundcloud.com/lovebirds/lovebirds-shakedown-7-14-12 http://soundcloud.com/lovebirds/lovebirds-360-dubai-09-11-2012 Joining Lovebirds in the Main Room for this event are Manana residents LUKE LANGSON and SIMON SMITH, whilst the Basement is hosted by one of Bristol’s finest collectives… the universally loved, dedicated purveyors of all things Funk, Soul, Boogie, Disco & House… FEEL THE REAL SOUNDSYSTEM … featuring MC JOE PENG, ANDRES CERVERO and PATO … ensuring true variation across the two rooms, and guaranteeing that there’s something on offer to suit the musical taste of everyone… Doors open for this truly historic event at 22:30, with the night running through until 04:00am. Last entry is at 02:00am, although we strongly recommend all guests arrive as early as possible to avoid disappointment… This is a night aimed at the genuine music lovers amongst us, and those that have right attitude towards others… Whilst we do not operate a door policy, we reserve the right of admission to ensure that all attendees are of likeminded thinking, and want to enjoy themselves without imposing upon others… Hostility and ignorance of any kind will simply not be tolerated. Entry for this event is £8 before midnight, £10 after… another reason to arrive early. Funk Boat attendees (displaying wristbands) and NUS (with card) will receive £7 entry all. Advance tickets will be available from one month prior to the event date, at either Bristol Ticket Shop or directly from The Exchange, or can be purchased online from either bristolmynight.com or afterdark.co.uk. TOMORROW’S FUTURE IS TODAY… BE A PART OF THE START OF SOMETHING NEW… SOMETHING DIFFERENT… SOMETHING SPECIAL… GET INVOLVED PEOPLE… x
