  • It is simply an honor for roBOt Festival to cross artistic paths with one of the giants of contemporary music, David Sylvian. Artist since the end of the 1970s, he revolutionized pop with his band Japan and followed up as a soloist in the 1980s where he incredibly pursued various forms of music from jazz to “cult” music to ambient to experimentation to orchestral pop. He is also the main protagonist behind The Kilowatt Hour, a project that sees Sylvian dialogue with two sacred monsters [“giants”] of Electronic Music, the Austrian Christian Fennesz and the German Stephan Mathieu. It will be an opportunity to see with your own eyes one of the best performances that explore interplay, contamination between human, analogue and digital elements, and meetings and confrontations between melody, experimentation and de-structuring. The Teatro Comunale of Bologna is a location unlike any other, as the roBOt Festival knows well. Again in its 2013 edition, the artistic level of the inaugural concert at the theater is very high and, more importantly, it tells in the best of ways how “new” forms of digital music know how to speak on equal terms with the best of contemporary music. They will render the distinctions between genres and categories in “cult” and “popular”, “engaging” and “experimental” obsolete. Art and music know how create a unique and intense feeling of vertigo.
