Detroit's Theo Parrish and UK super-talent Floating Points will be taking care of proceedings in the main room all night long: three hours from each of them, plus maybe a bit of Back 2 Back action. In the moderately sized main space of Plan B, this will be a real treat.
Theo really needs little introduction. A driving force behind Detroit's legacy since '94, he's been producing music and delivering his dynamic, genre twisting sets in venues throughout the Detroit area ever since. He's as big time abroad as he is on home soil, constantly gaining the respect of DJs, producers, listeners and dancers worldwide.
A master sampler, Theo's work on an MPC or Emu SP-1200 is nothing short of legendary. Mostly released on his own seminal imprint Sound Signature, his back catalogue ranges from world music or funk inspired cuts to straight up house; a vinyl collector's paradise, and music that's totally inimitable.
Sam Shepherd AKA Floating Points is like Theo, an eclectic DJ, not afraid to work boogie, funk or hip hop into his sets. Travelling everywhere with his handmade E&S rotary mixer, Flo Po is one of the most exciting DJ talents going, and we can testify; Sam has stolen the show every time we've seen him.
As a producer his tracks on Eglo, the first of which was in 2009, are sheer genius. Coming from a classically trained background, the musicality, arrangement and over all swagger of his tunes have to be stood back and admired from a distance. With Giles Peterson and Ben UFO amongst his greatest admirers, you know this dude has skills to pay the bills.
