  • Cut Hands: Cut Hands is a tribal noise project from Edinburgh, Scotland, formed in 2008 by William Bennett, the guiding force behind the recently rested Whitehouse. Bennett will always be known first and foremost for the scummy, excoriating power electronicssound that has been Whitehouse’s bread and butter since the late 1970s, but he’s always explored his own highly idiosyncratic path through music. Cut Hands finds Bennett indulging his love of the African, particularly Ghanaian and Congolese, percussion that he has avidly collected over the years; its sound is an aggressive but dizzyingly psychedelic composite of machine and acoustic vaudou rhythm, carefully constructed at his home studio over the course of several years. With his new project, Cut Hands, classically-trained William Bennet sets off on an obsessive journey to an imaginary Africa, painting a morbid and - as expected - abrasive picture using freely-interpreted African percussion and harsh, sonic exploration. In 1980, the then 18 year old Bennet was a founding member of the legendary noise band Whitehouse. With titles like “Bloodfucking” and “A Cunt Like You”, Whitehouse was a sonic manifestation of obscenity as concept and concept as obscenity. It was gratuitously clever, and not without political motivation. Over time, Bennet's approach grew somewhat more subtle, focusing on extralinguistics and unconscious communication. He founded the Cut Hands project in 2007, initially to further experiment with his obscure collection of Ghanaian percussion instruments in free-form workouts alongside other types of electronic sound experimentation. Eight years of recording finally culminated in 2011’s critically acclaimed release Afro Noise I. In addition to Cut Hands, Bennet has been involved with his mass hypnosis experimental project, Extralinguistic Sequencing, which premiered at the Tate Britain in late 2010. http://afronoise.blogspot.gr/ http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj/cuthands Panos Alexiadis: Under his real name, Panos Alexiadis composes - in real time using mainly modular synthesizers - samples of natural instruments and spacial recordings through which he builds electro-acoustic soundscapes designed to create a unique psychoacoustic audio experience. https://soundcloud.com/alexiadis Turbo Teeth: Turbo Teeth is the solo project of George Axioti (Balinese Beast, Holefold, Bruised Lee). Analog drum machines, contact microphones, junk electronics, create a collage of sounds frantically dancing over hypnotic, industrial beats. https://soundcloud.com/turbo-teeth ANFS: ANFS is the solo project of George Anifantis. Distorting, Organizing, Playing ,Mastering Sounds and releasing music on wax and digits. https://soundcloud.com/anifas http://www.modalanalysis.net/ Slydex: George Papageorgopoulos aka Slydex has been crafting the decks for almost a decade establishing himself as a prominent figure in the Athenian digital music scene. His sets vary from deep techno to sleazy, dirty and funky beats. From comfortably dark and ambient to uncomfortably sensual and grimmy sounds, and from industrial techno to chicago house and back, he enjoys mixing different styles and trying different sounds each time. "Modal Analysis", a record lebel he co-founded, releases a blend of modern techno with experimental approach in order to promote a new sophisticated sound coming from Greece. The label's gloomy aesthetic examines the structural impact of sound within space. In 2012 he made his debut release as a music producer with a cassette at the Seattle based Further Records under the alias of Kondaktor: a maestro who controls the musician's performance and manipulates the feelings of the crowds. Kondaktors' distorted approach is essentially a mix of experimental tonalities that resemble those coming from a mysterious yet concrete setting, with electroacoustic influences, build with a low-fi aesthetic. He is the man behind the "Reform" event series in Athens along with fellow DJs and he has recorded vocals for several different projects. http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj/slydex https://soundcloud.com/djslydex http://www.modalanalysis.net/ Miltiades: Miltiades Merentitis aka Miltiades was born in the early 80's and is a higly promising producer striking the international electronic music scene with his first release, on the newly founded Greek label Nous, entitled EPK.X. His sound falls between Deep House and Dub Techno with melancholic elements and a clear influence from the Detroit scene and from producers such as Patrice Scott, Omar S, Theo Parrish and Marcellus Pittman. Worth noting, is his collaboration with the prolific producer from Chicago, Hakim Murphy. https://soundcloud.com/miltiades https://www.facebook.com/miltiades.d https://soundcloud.com/nous-disques https://www.facebook.com/Nousdisques Mackenzie: Lefteris Brilakis aka Mackenzie, is the founder of the music store Habeat Records located in the center of Athens.
