Well much like Donald Trumps hair, those days are gone, so instead of combing over the memory, we need to do a Britney, shave away the pain and move on. Fortunately today, Sydney is blessed with left-of-center parties that creep in from under the radar. Parties that create magic on shoestring budgets yet offer so much more than overly produced parties that under-deliver.

The first brainchild of THOM was a party called Mince Meat. Mince Meat was dedicated to reviving the glory days of the Sydney warehouse scene in the 1990s. This homage to the way underground Sydney once partied, hosted warehouse parties with international talent such as Heidi (Get Physical, BBC Radio1), Philip Bader (Highgrade, Dantze), Valentino (Gomma Records) and a whole host of amazing local talent including Stereogamous and an outrageous acid house flashback with high energy DJ star Ming-D (why hello 1993). Cue 2013 and The House of Mince was born. This was the breaking point for T.H.O.M. It was time to start bringing out artists that we wanted to see.

SIMONA KAPITOLINA is a Melbourne DJ/Producer playing across the styles of new beat, EBM, italo and Dutch Electro. She is founder of label Girls Who Smoke Poke through which she runs New Beat trans/queer party The Shock of the New and releases her own music and remixes. 2013’s ‘Trouble In Utopia’ album is Simona Kapitolina’s debut dance release. Her other musical outlets include synthpop act Fluorescent and drummer with synthrock four-piece Ana Nicole.
