Where most of ADE saturday night parties are pretty expensive, we offer you the alternative. Not only in price, but in venue and in lineup aswell. We do like to speak the music for itself, so we definitly recommend doing some youtubing on our guests, but we don't want to miss out on the oppertunity to mention some details of their musical resumes...
Take our first UK headliner Kelpe for example; who's influences range from the bleeps & bass of classic Warp artists to the funk of
Sly Stone, and the minimalism of Steve Reich + Harmonia to the percussive space-
scapes of Tortoise + Do Make Say Think. And who played along side diverse acts such as Aphex Twin, Ghostpoet, Gaslamp Killer, and Daedelus.
Or our second UK headliner Throwing Snow, who played on support slots for Daedelus and Bonobo, and who's compelling debut on Alex Nut’s Ho_Tep had him remix the likes of Gold Panda, Sinden and Eskmo. Resulting in radio support from british tastemakers Gilles Peterson, Mary Anne Hobbs and Benji B.
For good measure there's also some good old US influence aboard: New York's Portable Sunsets. who's Latest EP, Mercy, isn't outwardly a startlingly sophisticated album; shuttling between ruminative techno and limpid ambient interludes, it makes do with the bare necessities — stripped-back drum programming, quietly evolving synthesizers, some appropriately moody vocals to give it an emotional center. But it pulls you in. Songs like "California" and "Clone Opera" might remind you of the San Francisco duo Broker/Dealer's all-hardware live sets of the early 2000s; you can also hear an echo of Los Angeles' Tin Man running through Portable Sunsets' downcast electro-pop. It's not surprisingly to learn that the Field, Ritchie Hawtin and Matthew Dear recently tapped him as being their opening act.
And to top things off, local guys Applescal and David Douglas will guarantee the right amount of dreaminess!
Not bad!
