“We just do what we feel like, whenever we’re in the studio or on the stage, fuck it.” Since they started making music together in 2006 these guys have been flying with their hearts and fists first and their minds second; rock, electronica, beat manipulation, rave classic covers and creating new tracks on the fly in their performances. “We love playing Paris, they really get it and have shown us huge support from day 1” it was in Paris that South Central were spotted by The Prodigy and have since toured with them, then Pendulum, and supported the likes of Rage Against The Machine and Vitalic. The past year they’ve been touring constantly playing their own shows all over the world.
“From Prodigy, we learnt about performing, from Pendulum, we learnt about production then we been putting it all back into what we’re doing” the latest offering is a free EP, Pitfalls & Corridors, it’s South Central making tracks for the dancefloor and DJ’s alike and they want us all to have them. “These are nothing compared to what we’re working on, you can fucking have them.” I don’t know if I’m scared of what’s coming, or if I can’t wait to see what’s next with these guys that I’m a little bit shakey writing this, or maybe it’s the absinthe… What I do know is I just saw 3000 people jumping and screaming for an hour straight, there were young people, old people, boys, girls, and a guy in a wheelchair throwing some shapes and running some doughnuts. They’re playing to some big audiences, with some big acts including UKF Bass Culture and Death Disco in Glasgow over the coming months.

You can never be completely sure what you're in for when you see Subset perform - even he isn't too certain what to expect. Honing his craft over the past three years in the demanding and eclectic New York City scene, Subset has soaked up the variety of music NYC has to offer and developed his unique sound by finding ways to weave all of these loose threads together.
Depending on the setting, and more importantly what socks he's wearing, Subset throws down sets ranging from techno to booty house and everything in between. Whether it's setting the mood in an intimate room before Photek, bringing the main stage to a frenzy after Pendulum and Caspa, or bringing a dark Brooklyn afterparty into the sunrise, Subset has proven that he can adeptly read any room and decide which tracks best fit the mood.
Since 2011, Subset has been the resident DJ of New York City's weekly Bassment Saturdays party. He has utilized Bassment Saturdays as a way of giving underground artists an outlet to perform in front of an attentive and receptive crowd. Many artists, including Alvin Risk, CRNKN, Buku, and Mutrix all had their NYC debuts at Bassment. Quickly approaching its two-year anniversary, Bassment Saturdays has upcoming guests including some of the heaviest hitters in dubstep and trap.
With a few original tracks and remixes ready for release, Subset is poised to take his unique brand of bass music global in 2013... or he might open a retirement home for cats.

BASSment Saturdays is New York City's biggest weekly dubstep party. Founded in June 2011 by Annie Rinsky, the party has attracted bass heads from all around the tri-state area since its inception. With talent ranging from underground heroes to DMC champions and world-renowned bass music legends, the lineup is always interesting and always has something new to offer.
BASSment Saturdays takes place on the basement floor at the world-famous Webster Hall in "The Studio," which has an underground and intimate vibe without sacrificing any production quality. The bass shakes the room and a hypnotizing light and laser show captivates the crowd all night long. There is a bar and a tattoo shop in the room, so you can get inked while listening to dubstep and drinking a beer.
The party's resident DJ, Subset, has been with the party since September 2011 and has continued to impress party-goers with his mixing skills, on-stage energy, and brand new (often unreleased) tracks. With Subset involved, the crowd always knows that they will be hearing the best and latest music. BASSment Saturdays is a one-of-a-kind experience that you can't get at most parties in New York City - great venue, amazing sound, incredible music, and diehard music fans.
